Guest guest
Someone alerted us to this via our contact page. Have not read this, but reading the synopsis on Amazon and some of the comments, like yet another book that eschews factory farming and convinces people to eat " humane " meat: " Animal Factory does not aim to make a vegetarian out of the reader, something I think a lot of people will fear given the title, but on the contrary, it's more about what to look for when choosing healthy and sustainable meats, protecting the environment and people; and what can happen when the government fails, repeatedly, to do it's job. " Sounds like a good opportunity to leaflet the audience with some vegan recipes/information... Cheers, Tammy Tuesday, April 06, 2010 9:16 AM BAV: David Kirby speaks at SF Ferry Bldg. Guest guest
Thanks for the tip, Tammy. It does sound like the perfect opportunity to leaflet. People attending will be doing so because they have some inkling that something is wrong. And some of them may be ready to make some changes. I'm sure that very few will have read the book already and been exposed to the idea that " humane meats " (oxymoron) is the answer. So we can head them off at the pass with some great leaflets that explain why " going vegan " is a much better answer! I plan to be there at 5:30 p.m. with " Why Vegan " and " Even if You Like Meat " leaflets from Vegan Outreach. Does anyone want to join me? It's Thursday, April 8, at Book Passage, Ferry Bldg, San Francisco. -Rachel D.
