850 people, mostly in costumes! LA 2009

hey, I think veggies in LA should March next year’s Los

Angeles’ Cesar Chavez’s parade.

Cesar’s parade is the ONLY parade in America honoring a vegetarian!

The Hispanics have a culture of ruthless Cock

Fighting. This is still practiced in many Countries: Legal and

illegally. (yes, even in

America)

The Hispanic diet encourages dangerous high blood pressure

and diabetes. They are one of

the few cultures that still continue to add lard to food. Their

favorite drinks are SODA. The whole family drinks soda like they drink

water. Men are not considered “macho” and made fun

of/ostracized of if they eat vegetables instead of meat.

Let’s somehow outreach to the Hispanic People.

==

April 10, for those who are going to Green Festival; I

recommend, parade with us for a 45 min at 12:15pm. Then take a 10 minute

bicycle ride to Green Festival. It’s very close by.

I cannot believe that SF Bay Veg let this email through. This email is wrong on so many levels, chiefly being that it is grossly racist. Secondly, it's aimed at activists in Los Angeles. I'm curious as to why this slipped through the cracks and if it isn't a slip, why was it posted?

Thank you, Winnie, for sending this apology. I appreciate your

willingness to reflect on Laura's message and share your message

publicly. And, as I wrote you privately, I know you have good intentions. :)

Also, some food for thought: some consider the term " Hispanic " offensive

due to its centering of Latin@ identity around White Spanish conquerors.

I stopped using the term after reading the following at

http://www.theunapologeticmexican.org/glosario.html#hispanic

-----

hispanic- A word invented by Richard Nixon. It attempts to convince

those who use and hear it that all Latin@s are necessarily related to

Spain, as the word references the country of Spain. I do not use this

word. This word exists to eradicate the reality that Mexicans are

Indians. " Hispanic " refutes Brownness. " Hispanic " references the fair,

White Spanish conquerers. While it is true that Mexicans can have both

the blood of the conqueror (Spanish) as well as the conquered (Indian),

there is no reason to focus on the conqueror, and exclude the original

inhabitants of Mexico...unless it is to continue the conquest

linguistically.

I am not " Hispanic. " I am a Mexican American.

We're getting on a tangent and will be booted out soon, but thanks for the explanation of the term Hispanic. It became popular after " Chican@ " and " Latin@ " went out of favor. My question is: Isn't " America " named after Amerigo Vespucci, part of the conquering clan?
