Guest guest
Hi all, In their news lead-in to Democracy Now!, KPFA included the clip below from UFW's co-founder, Dolores Huerta. The interview was from the Cesar Chavez Day Parade/Festival in San Francisco on Saturday. I tried my best to transcribe it as spoken: DH: His contributions are just absolutely enormous. In fact, just walking down here to come to the stage here this afternoon, I passed by one of the booths that's here, where they are talking about vegetarianism and people eating a vegan diet. Of course, Cesar was a vegetarian, and he really believed very strongly that people should become vegetarians, and that would not only improve one's health, but also would improve the health of all of the animals that we don't have to slaughter to eat them. And then his whole legacy of non-violence, which is a very strong message that we need, especially in today's violent world. And the other thing is about service to others. He really believed that our lives that we live on this earth – it should be here for only one reason and that is to give service to others; and this is that we make the world a better place. the actual clip can be found 2 minutes 26 seconds in at: http://kpfa.org/archive/id/60156 Si se puede!
