Guest guest
Dear Tammy & List, I have protested in San Francisco at three KFCs (Duboce, Geary and Irving Streets) and after school, I wait at a bus stop (Taraval St.) with a fourth KFC. All four of these San Francisco KFCs share space and cash registers with Taco Bell. I was unaware that there were places where Taco Bell and KFC were in separate buildings. I understand that spending money on vegan options provided by a non-vegan company sends a message -- sometimes I buy Silk brand soy milk with that identical logic, even though I know the original vegan-friendly entrepreneurs were bought out by a giant company which owns dairy factory farms. I rationalize that my purchase sends a statement that the vegan product can be profitable. However, in the case of Taco Bell, the food there is so unhealthy and so linked in my mind with KFC and abuse-to-chickens-for-profit that I could never eat there. That's my view. It's up to each vegan where to eat, but I would hope Taco Bell would not be on the list. Sincerely, Bonnie Knight, San Francisco
