I just found out about this diet, but I'm still a little confused

about what all foods are okay in this diet. I loooove fruit and

veggies but I read that they're bad for a raw food diet. Someone

please help!! Thanks! -Crystal

Well Crystal, first, a raw food diet would be pretty tough without

fruits and veggies, so I wouldn't eliminate them yet. Loving them

is a really good thing -- you're blessed. Second, there are a

million opinions out there about what's good for you and what's bad

for you, so you've got to rely on as much science as you can get

your hands on (somewhat limited for this diet), and test things out

on your own body to find out what works for you right now.

Just to warn you -- there are two big camps of raw foodists, people

who lean toward the fruit side of the equation (usually called

Natural Hygiene or Fruitarian), and people who focus on nutrient-

dense foods, such as greens and other superfoods, such as raw cacao

(chocolate) beans, spirulina, chlorella, maca, and others. There

are other streams too -- fasting, cleansing, balanced raw food

eating (nuts, greens, fruits), diets tailored to each person's

metabolic type, etc.

If you have a health crisis, get some help with your symptoms and

work with your health care provider to stabilize your health. Find

someone knowledgable about raw food, juicing, and cleansing and work

closely with them.

If you're otherwise relatively healthy, take a deep breath, relax,

and start to explore the wild wild world of raw food. You've got

time to explore it all. Find some friends online or in your

community and start learning. If you already love fruit and

veggies, that's a great foundation to build on.

Enjoy your journey!

I eat fruit and veggies, they ARE a raw food diet in my book. Other

things you can eat, any raw plant food, beyond that, I don't know.

Crystal,

Some do say that fruits should be kept to a minimum. Supposedly too much fruit

can contribute to molds, funguses, yeasts, and mycotoxins. But veggies? I'm

curious, where did you read that?
