Guest guest
Hello all, I've been reading " 12 Steps to Raw Foods " By Victoria Boutenko and have been struggling with eating raw fruits and veggies. I keep slipping back into cooked foods and it has been very frustrating. After my journey into " 12 Steps to Raw Foods " I now am informed and knowledgeable why it has been so hard, but now I want to become 100% raw/living fruits and veggies. But I know that the two month journey to become 100% raw and stay there is very hard to do alone. I am asking for help and support in doing this. I hope I have come to the right place. I live in Rochester, Minnesota and I do not know any others who are 100% raw. Any advice, suggestions, or support I can get would be greatly appreciated! :-) Blessings and peace to all, John B. Hi John, It's certainly easier when you have friends or relatives who are raw foodists. You might want to post a notice on the Groups and Buddies section of www.RawFoodsNewsMagazine.com (find it in the drop-down site menu at the top of the page) saying you're looking for local raw food people. I guess Rochester isn't anywhere near Minneapolis/St. Paul? Because there's a great raw restaurant there, Ecopolitan. I've never been there, but it's gotten great reviews. Maybe they know of some people in your area too. One thing I found when I first went 100% raw, in January 2002, was that after three or four months, it no longer was hard to do. So if you can stay with it for that period of time, it should get much easier for you. Guest guest
John, I relate to your post, and I caution you to consider other parts of the puzzle besides just being 100% raw. For example, are you helping yourself if you eat raw sugar? I've been trying to be 100% raw for a couple of years and I haven't achieved it yet! I hope you have better luck than I have had with this goal. In fact, I have come to the point that I now ask myself, " What is wrong with steamed broccoli? " If I boil some water for soup, add some noodles and then put my raw veggies in the soup when I take it off the burner am I going to hell? Cheese is " raw " ! Which is bette; to eat raw broccoli and raw cheese, or to eat steamed broccoli with no cheese? Obviously, the raw foodist who eats cheese is worse off. I don't think " Raw " is the complete answer. It may be one part of the puzzle, but a diet of dairy products, nuts, avocados, soy, etc is certainly not as healthy as steamed veggies and fruits, is it? I'm asking! What's so great about raw? It is a definite step in the right direction for a person who is eating SAD, but 100% raw may not solve all our problems. There may be another piece of the puzzle. Am I wrong on this? Guest guest
Hi there, Your right and wrong. Raw food IS that good, and cooking food IS that bad. For one's health I mean, not morally (not directly anyway, although I believe ever act has a moral implication). I would say, don't eat raw cheese OR steamed broccoli! I know from experience that I feel better when I'm 100% raw. On the other hand, of course it doesn't solve all one's problems, and there are more pieces to the puzzle. But it certainly helps a lot! Guest guest
Cheese bad, broccoli good, steamed broccoli bad. Simple English. I've got all kinds of fresh, raw, fruits and vegetables that I'm eating. Mmm, delicious. I'm getting more and more used to raw. And the only way to do it to any real satisfaction is to be 100% raw imho. I'm on a two a day (not one, not three) avocado fix. I shudder to think how tough it would be to stay raw without avocados. Eating raw is the least thing this sinner can do. I carry my little sack of produce around with me all day as I go about my activities. There's power in them thar raw plant food. I want people to stand back while I'm eating, it might be too explosive for them, so much energy in raw produce, I'm surprised I can eat that much liquid light. But seriously folks it is terrible to be embarrassed eating this way around others, I hope I get over that someday. Gotta eat my bananas before they go bad. I've had a huge surplus of carrots for a long time now, I can't believe how big and cheap that bag at Costcos is. Spinach is tastier than lettuce. Can't wait to break open my cantalopes. I love those bite size tomatoes, cooler than the beefsteaks. rawfood , " Darla " <darla615@p...> wrote: > >Cheese is " raw " !
