I just made the fudge balls from Alissa Cohen's book, Living On Live Foods.

IT'S FABULOUS!!! And so darned easy to make. I actually had to modify the

recipe a bit. It calls for 2 cups of raw almond butter, but I didn't have that

much, so I just went one cup almond butter and one cup cashew butter. It tastes

SOOOO GOOOOODDD!!!! I am absolutely thrilled. I have produce waiting for me to

make them into a couple of others of her recipes, and now I'm really looking

forward to it!

I don't get the correlation between tunes and choreographers.

Choreographers are for dance.

Thanks! I can't wait to try it!

Okay, here it is:

2 cups Dates, pitted and soaked (I did not soak mine)

2 cups Almond Butter (I used 1 cup Almond, 1 cup Cashew)

1/2 cup Carob powder

In a food processor, blend the dates into a smooth paste (if you don't soak

them, it won't be all that smooth, but still good). Add in the nut butter(s)

and the carob powder, and blend until smooth (it's kinda like a dough). Remove

the mixture from the food processor, and form into balls. Keep it in the

refrigerator.

Enjoy!

Carolyn :)

The date nut torte is delicious too. I've tried a

bunch of her recipes since receiving the book last

week and they have all been delicious, and so simple

to make (much easier than cooking!).

Yes, you dance to music, but how does having the best choreographers

relate to heaven as far as music and dance are concerned. Cryptic.

I'm having a hard time finding Almond butter and carob powder...any suggestions

on the web perhaps? I live near Nashville and there are not a lot of health food

stores with fresh organic veggies and stuff here. Also, it's hard to tell from

labels if something is prepared raw or with heat since that is not somthing they

are required to list. For instance, I have no idea if hummus is a good raw food

choice or not?

I actually found raw almond butter in one of the local grocery stores, right

next to regular ol' peanut butter. The carob powder, too. Okay, I admit, the

carob powder doesn't say it's raw, but that's the only ingredient that isn't.

That's still good, right?

FYI If it's Marantha's Almond Butter, it's not raw. Even if it says it's

raw, it's not. We were eating it the first 3 months we were raw, and someone

said it wasn't really raw, so I called Marantha's directly. They said the

almonds were raw (when they started), but the processing was well above the

temperature any raw foodist would use. " It is not intended for use by raw

foodists, " were their exact words. Typically, if almond butter is NOT

refrigerated, it's NOT raw.....Just an FYI in case you or anyone else was

curious.

I know what you mean. I just ate way too much banana nut " brittle " --although

I ate it way before it had a chance to become brittle!

Judy

Wow. Very addicting, actually.

I flattened the balls, and rubbed the sides in dried coconut flakes, and

pressed a pecan into the top. I don't feel very virtuous, though. Next

time, I need to share the amount I ate with 6 people!

Wow.

the raw foods diet that's actually raw!

What's not raw about simple, whole, raw, fresh produce? Just pick it

up and eat it, that's my motto.

Maybe I missed something earlier on in this thread, I don't know. But

that aside your statement is utterly preposterous! NOTHING on the raw

food diet that's raw??

The fruit and salad I buy seems pretty raw to me! Enjoy the bowel

cancer /heart attack special prize on that there SAD diet!

FINALLY!!! People starting to talk about what *is* rather than what is *not*!

THAT was my point, people. I'm just a tad sick and tired of people responding

to things with " that's not raw! " If it's as close as a person can humanly get

to raw, just leave it at that, okay?

Oh, you were being sarcastic! I shouldn't have missed that, being

english and all. Yes I agree there's a problem where people end up

thinking there are only about two or three foods that are 'safe' to

eat. Given that raw food is obviously the healthiest diet on the

planet ANYWAY, why ruin it by making it unhealthily restricted to a

tiny selection of foods?

Being overly strict and picky could make some people ill, and put

others off the raw food diet completely!

If it is not raw then it is not raw. Things to come close to being raw.

Personally, I would like to know if something I'm eating isn't raw.
