Guest guest
Hi everyone, I don't know if I posted this yet, but if I did I don't remember getting any feedback so I'm trying again. Per my doctor, I am required to have protein at every meal. Examples of the protein and their servings: Either 4oz meat, fish, curd cheese, FIRM tofu or 8oz uncooked moist tofu or yogurt, cooked beans etc... or 16oz milk All the above equal 1 serving of protein. I want to try and do as much raw items as I can so I was hoping some one can either list those foods that are predominantly protein sources or send me a link where I can find this information. I haven't tried to make almond or seed yogurt yet, (I think I am a bit scared), but I have started making my own almond milk and want to know what the almond meal after the milk has been extracted equals nutritionally. If anyone has good recipes for yogurt, kefir etc... please share them. I also have to point out that I cannot use whole almonds because of digestive issues and that they have to be in their broken down state. I am also interested to know if anyone consumes raw or soaked legumes and what recipes you have. I have tasted raw sprouted legumes before but it wasn't very tasty, they were actually quite bitter and repulsive. Thanks! *B
Guest guest
Soaked nuts or sunflower seeds make good salad dressings if you add spices, tomato, lemon juice or a red bell pepper, etc... Some people add the almonds with dates from the blender for cream on fruit salads. Sesame seed butter (tahini) raw, is good. All the nuts and seeds can be soaked and or blended into sauces, spreads, dips, and even added to smoothies to make them creamier. Most people do not have trouble getting enough protein, but consume too much, which causes headaches and gas for me. Guest guest
Hi B- You will probably get some more concrete answers to your post than the one I am about to put out there. My sister just got through (about a month ago now) with a 3-week stay at the Hippocrates Institute in FLA. Before she went in there, she had really been sliding down hill (by her standards) and was definitely an omnivore. The point is she had been ingesting plenty of protein. When they took her blood levels upon entry though, she was low on protein. So one would think, based on conventional nuritional ideas, that three weeks with no protein (or very little in the form of nuts) would have caused her condition to deteriorate. Quite to the contrary. After 3 weeks of a strict raw live food diet, and a guided detox program, her protein levels were much higher when she left. This says to me that we do not have to eat protein for our bodies to make protein, just like so many animals (gorillas, cows, etc., etc.) It also says to me that when our bodies are polluted and on overload in so many ways, they cannot make use of the food we give them. Guest guest
would you consider getting a second opinion? I think your dr has a school of thought that differs from what raw foodists believe On Thu, Feb 03, 2005 at 09:18:43AM -0800, ATrulyFreeSpirit wrote: > Per my doctor, I am required to have protein at every meal. > Examples of the protein and their servings:

Guest guest
That's true. I don't know the first thing about putting a web page together and I've never fully tried to use one of those assistance programs for it. rawfood , tev treowlufu <coac2002> wrote: > > I appreciate the compliment, Rich; but you give me > more credit than I deserve.
