Guest guest
I have some Trader Joe's Organic Sweet Corn in the freezer, I was thinking it was raw but now I am not so sure. I guess a lot of vegetables are blanched before freezing, it didn't occur to me that this is a common practice because usually the only frozen food I buy is Cascadian Farms berries for smoothies, which I am pretty sure are raw. Does anyone know for sure about the corn? I don't want to use it for a raw recipe and have it not be raw. They do not say specifically on the package or on the website and the website says they do not answer customers e-mails about specific products. Guest guest
Generally speaking, veggies are blanched, fruits are not. Guest guest
Not necessarily; freezing itself breaks down the foods somewhat; berries, bananas, etc., just turn into mush once they thaw out, and they have not been cooked in any way, while some veggies remain more firm. I believe veggies are blanched because they do not freeze well otherwise. It's part of the preserving process.
