Does anybody know how to deal with teenagers when eating raw? I did not buy

milk yesterday and my daughter went into a melt down. I still have a headache

from it! I heard milk causes cancer and told her so. I I heard milk protein

causes cancer on vegsource video links.

I know the nutrition classes at my college said that a child with milk and eggs

has as good of nutrition than meat eaters, but to deprive children, especially

infants and very young children, may result in problems.

I said I would not be buying milk. Then I said if they agree to no more meat

in the house than I might buy only milk and eggs. I am studying microbiology in

school and do not want the diseases from animal products in my kitchen.

It is like world war three and my husband is ok with fish and will drink nut

milk. He and the kids eat all kinds of fast food when they are out. They are

whining about being deprived. I would not want them to call this child abuse.

Then I wonder what are my rights? Do I have to live alone to have an all raw

kitchen? At least it would be peaceful, even if lonely.

As you can see, I am the only raw foodist in the house. They tell me I am going

to get sick. I disagree and am concerned for their health. My daughter is 13

and has high cholesterol, like my husband because they eat garbage. He has had

melanoma and will probably die from it eventually. My kids are also covered

with moles. I'm exhausted from the battles and so sad that they refuse to eat

what is good for them.

That's a tough one. I'm childless so I have no practical experience

with it. But my feeling is I would do everything in my power to make

them eat raw and just stay in the World War for as long as it lasts.

Until they're eighteen and legally independent and also buying their

own food, I think that's ok to do. It's unfortunate that they were

raised SAD, first loves are virtually impossible to let go of. But

we don't ask a two-year old what's best for it, we just do what we

think is best, I think that's the same for any underage dependent.

Many would disagree with me here, but that's my view on the tough

love.

As far as I'm concerned, animal products are dangerous to one's

health regardless of what anyone else thinks (I think society is

starting to see some repercussions from the Atkin's Diet, for

example), and I'm not going to feed someone something that's

dangerous for them regardless of what they might want, at least if

they were my dependent and underage. For that matter, if I were

hosting a party or taking someone out to dinner, I don't think I'd

serve or pay for anything but raw food.

Love is tough sometimes, that's why we have real child abuses in

society, people can get confused about these issues.

It wouldn't be lonely to be alone, I like it. I live at my mother's

and she eats the SAD diet, but she said she saw some seedless

cucumbers and picked me up a couple yesterday.

Maybe some of the health problems with your children will clear up

with a few months raw, more likely than not though, they'll just eat

SAD away from the house somehow. My health, diposition, demeanor,

everything is excellent eating raw, so I don't think my particular

raw diet will ever make me sick. But I think the garbage eating that

society does is making them sick. The boom in health care positions

is not a good thing and all the hospitals being so crowded all the

time isn't either.

Check out rawfamily.com

The Boutenko teens have been raw since childhood and have even written a

fabulous uncook book.

I have four kids and I have not pushed raw on them. I do insist on veganism and

we have no meat/dairy in our home--I simply won't buy it. But I cook for them

and share my raw treats with them and they like it--but I won't force them into

it. They attend raw events and love the food, but it is hard enough simply to be

vegan in the " teen world, " I can't force them to feel like freaks!

We talk about the effects of food all the time (dairy/meat/cancer/the

environment). I am sure that what I am doing is making an impression more

because I have not forced it upon them.

just my thoughts!

blessings!

Leslie,

If you have no meat or dairy in your home (heaven) what kinds of things do you

get for the kids to eat? Maureen

Example will produce better results than force. Force will just put them in

the position of opposing all to do with raw and turn them into ardent

carnivores. With your example they will eventually find their way. You ate

SAD when you were their age.

As for your own needs. I find it very hard to stay raw when eating with

cooked food folks, although I have known mothers who do this. One ate raw

and cooked for her family. But milk will not tempt you. You can buy that

for your kids and also have delicious almond milk around in case they wanna

have some. My hunch is at first they won't because they are devoted to

being free to choose, but eventually if you don't lean on them they will

start to have the almond milk from time to time.

Good luck to you and your family. Lane

Now I don't necessarily disagree with this, it depends on the child

and the situation, but here's a little tidbit about what tough love

and morality are: The Urantia Book, P.1619 - §2, (Jesus

speaking) " Which of you who is a father, if his son asks unwisely,

would hesitate to give in accordance with parental wisdom rather than

in the terms of the son's faulty petition? If the child needs a loaf,

will you give him a stone just because he unwisely asks for it? If

your son needs a fish, will you give him a watersnake just because it

may chance to come up in the net with the fish and the child

foolishly asks for the serpent? "

I realize that morals are a confusing issue in this society of self-

determination addiction, but I still think they're important (just

ask George). Getting involved with someone and caring is better than

leaving people alone in many situations (just ask many a wife). But

I agree that example is the best way you can teach and the strongest

influence that you can have on someone.

Maureen~

My kids basically eat a vegan diet (lots of veggies and fruits).

They enjoy the various raw dishes that I prepare, they love raw fruit, but they

also enjoy cooked, vegan food.
