Guest guest
Hi Indiana, The cravings are likely related, at least in part, to the low energy, so let's focus there. If you are willing, it would be really helpful to know what you are eating in some detail, at least for a couple of days. What we are looking for is caloric intake, fuel for energy. Also, it would be helpful is you would talk a bit about your sleep patterns and about current sources of stress in your life, if you are willing. I am having a hard time getting past the constant cravings, lack of energy and everything else that goes with it, to even experience what you are all feeling.......*sigh* Regards, Ms Indiana. rawfood , swing bolder <swingbolder> wrote: > Hi Lynne, > > Yes I can totally identify with how you are feeling. Guest guest
These foods may " fill you up " in the short run, but this is addressing only the symptom, not the problem. Please refer to load of other posts on fruits and related matters. Also, posts on emotional eating are forthcoming, many cravings are emotional, not physical, in origin. By the way, what is " raw hemp protein? " Sounds like a contradiction in terms, as the calories from hemp seeds are distributed 17% from carbs, 27% from protein, and 56% from fat. Elchanan michele bustos [ixim_mbustos] Thursday, March 17, 2005 5:37 PM rawfood Re: [Raw Food] feeling of well-being! I completely agree with you on Soy. I used to eat SO much (trying to get in enough protein for working out). Now we are doing the raw hemp protein, mixed with carob, coconut and a bit o vanilla in balls. It's fab. Also with the mesquite meal instead of the carob. but you know, even tho that stuff is raw, it still seems pretty unnatural to me. BUT the raw protein and fat really fill u up and kill the craving bug! Rachel <racheladair wrote: I forgot to mention that I also completly cut out soy foods and soy products. Guest guest
http://store./valuenutritionstore/heprpo16ozma.html This is not where we get it, but this is the brand. My body does not do well with sugar or fruit, though sometimes I need to have some fruit for the taste flash of it. With a lot of exercise (hours of cardio), if afterwards, I don't give myself some form of protein meal, then I will crave sugar for DAYS. The protein is the only thing that puts the brakes on that. I used to use soy/tofu, but found it was giving me hotflashes. Green juice is good, but if I mix it with any other sweet juice, it does not work for this situation. Natures First Law also sells hemp protein. I will have to check the label to get you more detail. Thanks! /m " INFO @ Vibrant Life " <VLinfo wrote: These foods may " fill you up " in the short run, but this is addressing only the symptom, not the problem. Guest guest
Hi Michele, Regarding the hemp protein, I meant, could you tell me the actual name of the product. Then I can give you a bit more insight into what you're actually consuming and your body's actual physiological response. So thanks for looking. You wrote: With a lot of exercise (hours of cardio), if afterwards, I don't give myself some form of protein meal, then I will crave sugar for DAYS. The protein is the only thing that puts the brakes on that. In my post subject: Energy (one more thing esp. athletes) dated Thu 3/17/2005 6:34 PM, I wrote: _____ One more thing for athletes in particular. When you exercise, you burn fuel sources in the following order: 1. Present blood sugar. 2. Glycogen reserves. Glycogen is a starch made internally, stored in the muscles and liver for rapid conversion into fuel and energy. 3. Body fat reserves. For a true athlete, exercising and burning through a couple thousand calories at a time, you deplete your glycogen reserves noticeably. During the first 1-2 hours following exercise, your body will replenish these reserves at roughly twice the rate it normally would, IF you eat timely and correctly. This is the perfect time for a substantial fruit meal. This is significant, because failure to allow the body to fully replenish glycogen reserves is the primary cause of that needed " rest day " every week. A RF actually has a distinct advantage here. If you do this right, you'll be able to train 7 days a week if you like. _____ I believe this applies to you! The " protein " you consume suppresses your appetite, it does not replenish your system. Your system is quite incapable of converting protein or fat to glycogen within the body's natural timeframe. The craving you experience when you do not use the protein is your body's REAL, natural response, trying to tell you something: FEED ME FUEL!! I use all caps because it corresponds, I suspect, to the intensity of the craving you experience. Your body is hungry for fuel, i.e., simple sugar. Just give it what it wants, you'll feel great! Guest guest
I wish it were that simple. If I give it what I want, I get fat, and then I don't feel so great! If I set off on fruit binge I get loads of other symptoms that make me feel poisoned, even if the fruit is organic. It's the sugar/insulin thing I think, that my body doesn't process so well. Just give it what it wants, you'll feel great! Elchanan
Guest guest
No, I mean give your body the simple sugar, the fuel, and the related vitamins and minerals it wants. If you truly switch to the fruits AND cut the fats, you'll feel better and perform better than you ever have. Your blood sugar problems ALL originate from excess blood fat, NOT from sugar. Really! I just wrote a long post on this a day or two ago, do you have it? If not, please let me know. Guest guest
I spent a few minutes on their site and there does not appear to be any easily accessible information on the physical composition of this product. So I've written off to them asking. Elchanan michele bustos [ixim_mbustos] Friday, March 18, 2005 1:58 PM rawfood RE: [Raw Food] feeling of well-being! Guest guest
Excellent. There are other brands as well. We chose this brand (Manitoba) for the taste, so it wouldn't surprise me if this one were better (it's more expensive): http://www.livingharvest.com/Hemp_Protein_Powder.htm The living harvest brand was sold awhile back at nature's first law. I hated it because it tasted horrific no matter what I mixed it with. BUT, admittedly, I was not that good at raw food combining then, so it may have just been the chef (me!). I am in california! Los Angeles area!
