Guest guest
Antibiotics will suppress the symptoms, not resolve the problem physiologically speaking. But I believe you already know that. Two questions: What have you eaten during the last 48 hours or so, please be as complete as possible? Have you encountered any stress spikes recently, or are you stressed about the trip itself? Elchanan Valerie Mills Daly [valdaly] Thursday, March 17, 2005 4:08 PM rawfood ; 12stepstorawfood [Raw Food] UTI Hi, all, your input and expertise is urgently requested! I believe I am coming down with a urinary tract infection; I've only dealt with this twice before in my life, several years ago, and I would like to avoid the antibiotics if possible. Has anyone any idea what I should do food-wise to deal with this? Would water fasting for a few days help? Just juice? I am just at the beginning, but I'm traveling for the weekend, and may just have to break down and call the doctor tomorrow. ANy help would be appreciated... Guest guest
I've been dealing with a few increased stressors; my food intake over the last two days has been banana raspberry smoothies (total of about 12 bananas, 4 cups raspberries), 1 whole avocado, about 12 ribs of celery, 1 head of romaine, a couple dozen clementines, 1 dozen pears, 6 bananas eaten on their own, water from 3 young coconuts. I don't think I've missed anything. Thanks...Valerie " INFO @ Vibrant Life " <VLinfo wrote: Antibiotics will suppress the symptoms, not resolve the problem physiologically speaking. Guest guest
Hi there The fasting is fine, on water. Especially for a diabetic, I strongly recommend against fruit juice ever. You re removing the soluble fiber that moderates sugar absorption. Your comment " that is to be expected " only applies because you removed the fiber. Elchanan Ravyne Hawke [ravyne_hawke] Thursday, March 17, 2005 8:57 PM rawfood Re: [Raw Food] UTI Hello Valerie. I just recently went through this as well. What I did to curb my UTI was to fast on fresh cranberry juice, fresh black cherry juice and water. I did this for two days and the UTI seemed to go away on its own. The only side effect that I had from this was my blood sugar went out of wack, but then, I am diabetic, so that was to be expected. I hope this helps! I am sure someone with more expertise will be able to give you better advice though. Best wishes, Ravyne Valerie Mills Daly <valdaly wrote: Hi, all, your input and expertise is urgently requested! Guest guest
then I suggest the following, if you have time: Eliminate all the acid fruits for one day. That includes the citrus, raspberry (put dates into your smoothie instead, along wit several stalks of celery for the moment), the Clementines (I know, you LOVE those!). WRT the coconuts, eat the water, not the meat for this one day. Eliminate the avocado for this one day. Add a head of lettuce, leaf or romaine preferred. You can eat it, blend it, roll it, slice it, dice it. What I am looking for is one VERY alkalizing day. Then on the second day, begin fasting on water only, and rest. Usually 1-3 days fasting will get you past the immediate problem, but that may not be enough to address whatever underlying issue may be there. (I am remembering you want to do something or go somewhere.) Fasting 5-7 days, with rest, would probably get you MUCH farther along in cleansing. Oh, congratulations on eating what sounds like a great diet overall. It would be constructive to add tender leafy greens (lettuces) somewhat regularly, and to begin spacing out the avocados when you feel ready to let go a bit. One more thing, important. You may wish to have someone to talk with directly during this little adventure. If that is the case, please contact me at VibrantLife and we'll arrange to connect. Happy to do so. I think with my trip to Ohio for the weekend, it will be easiest to stick wtih the water, as you suggest; since it's a family trip, they will understand and not pressure me to do otherwise. Guest guest
Elchanan - would you suggest perhaps just eating the fruit raw then the next time with just a water fast? I have a strong affinity to cranberries when I get UTIs because they have always helped clear mine up so quickly. I would hate to give that up. Guest guest
If you love cranberries, then enjoy them!!! BTW, you can use them in a smoothie, just another option. But straight and alone is always best. Having said that, I realize there is considerable folk " wisdom " that cranberries are good for a UTI. But really, the UTI reflects some hyperacidity, plain water, a short fast, is probably the most effective. Please note that, in my post a couple days ago, I suggested a totally alkalizing day leading into a fast. During that alkalizing day, I eliminated all but the most alkalizing foods. Cranberries (all berries) do not fall under this description.
