I know you have mentioned before that you purchase your organic

bananas by the case. Would you be willing to share your source? I

have looked all over the internet and can't find a farm/company or

any other entity that ships organic bananas to the states.I'm

problably just looking in the wrong spot, but am getting fairly

frustrated.

_____

Oh, great question!!! The only way I know to buy case lots of bananas and

other fresh produce is locally. I talked and talked with produce managers

and distributors in the area, and eventually I just found a couple that

would do it. Actually, many will do it, but I wanted a nice price. So

persisted in my search, and eventually I found a produce manager who just

loves us (myself, Laurie Masters, Tim Trader, etc.) and so we are very well

taken care of. We buy various things by the case, as well as bananas, as we

often split cases of some items (such as certain citrus not available at the

FM)

I have found a couple of farmers who sell us their " overripe " tomatoes at a

great produce, in season. (What they call overripe, we call ready to eat!!!)

I have found farmers willing to sell greens, citrus, berries, and so on, all

by the case. And since several of us buy together, and also since we

genuinely take the time to talk with these people and develop relationships

with them, we are treated well, with great prices, extra food, little

treats, etc. And of course, we regularly bring them new customers. So it all

works out quite nicely.

I guess the bottom line for me lies in the relationships.

Best to all,

Elchanan
