Guest guest
I am wondering about the importance of breakfast? I always hear it is important to eat breakfast, however, I never want to eat in the morning . . . so I don't. Any thoughts?
Guest guest
I can relate as I never want to eat breakfast either, but it's supposed to jumpstart your metabolism for the day. I also find I don't want my usual late night snacks when I eat breakfast. Guest guest
Depends on what you consider breakfast. How about just a piece of fruit or a smoothie? That's what I do for breakfast everyday. chai_mama [chai_mama] Monday, March 28, 2005 10:11 AM rawfood Re: [Raw Food] Breakfast question * thanks for your thoughts . . . would not mind jumpstarting the metabolism, but breakfast . . . yuck. .. Guest guest
And do you notice a difference in your eating requirements/metabolism, etc. throughout the day? a piece of fruit is not a bad idea-- I couldn't handle a smoothie. Guest guest
I just feel a bit of hunger in the morning, so I eat. I would never be able to handle more than a smoothie or a piece of fruit though. I don't know how it affects my metabolism, because I've never tried not eating at breakfast (except when fasting). I think it's as simple as listening to what your body tells you. Are you hungry? Then eat. If not, then don't eat. chai_mama [chai_mama] Monday, March 28, 2005 10:23 AM rawfood RE: [Raw Food] Breakfast question And do you notice a difference in your eating requirements/metabolism, etc. throughout the day? a piece of fruit is not a bad idea-- I couldn't handle a smoothie. Guest guest
I eat the same things at every meal. It's not a big deal, it's just food for fuel. I might eat some of the lighter vegetables and fruit in the morning and save the " hard " stuff like avocados, bananas, dates, raw nuts for when I need them later in the day after a day of emotions and processing. My first meal of the day is smaller than other meals too. I often drink a glass of water first thing in the morning. All this categorizing of foods for certain times of the day is just a habit of cooked food eaters. They have to occupy their minds around some kind of strategy to eating so they can avoid the thought that they shouldn't be eating that way in the first place. I do want to eat in the morning, so I do. But sometimes not until late in the morning as I'm not all that hungry early on either. And as I mentioned, my first meal is not much compared to later ones. Guest guest
I usually just eat a banana when I get up and then about 15-20 mins later follow that up with vegetable juice. About all I can stomach first thing in the morning. " chai_mama " <chai_mama wrote: thanks for your thoughts . . . would not mind jumpstarting the metabolism, but breakfast . . . yuck. Guest guest
Greetings, I am one of those people who has always eaten breakfast, even as a child, and I can't imagine leaving the house without eating my morning meal. But everyone is different, and I think that it is detrimental to eat when one is not hungry. If you truly don't feel hungry in the morning, don't eat until you are, whatever time that happens to be. Don't try to set your personal body clock by anyone else's schedule. Be true to yourself, and all will be well. Guest guest
Hi, One of the earliest recorded advocates of not eating breakfast was the Hygienist Dr Edward Hooker Dewey with his " No Breakfast Plan " who found that this simple measure was of inestimable benefit to his clientile. Prof Szekely laid down the cycles of the day in which the main eliminative cycle extended till midday, and advocated that the healthy person should not eat before midday. In 1986 the Sydney and Macquarie Universities carried out an experiment with rats which showed the incidence of cancer being reduced by 93% in those eating between 12noon and 6pm against the controls who were allowed to eat indiscrimately, even though they ate the same amount of food by weight.
