What I haven't told you about my journey (a bit long)

hi all,

Goodness I don't know where to start.

As i told you all in my introduction I have a cronic disease Diabetes

Insupidus, this is kidney diabetes. Basically my kidneys don't know

how to process water as i was born with a dead puturity gland and

don't produce many of the hormones that the body needs. This means

that I can drink upto 5 gallons of water a day and pee up to 10 a day.

Over the years I have not been good to my kidneys while living in the

states i drank up to 2 liters of Dr. Pepper a day (waitress it was

free) ; switching to cola when I moved to Norway, and as much coffee

while at the same time drinking 3 to 4 gallons of water. years of

running all of this through my kidneys caused me to be diagnosed with

gout in them about 3 years ago and still I didn't listen i continued

treating my body as a dumping ground. When i moved to Norway my salt

intake up almost 10fold as Norwegian food contains alot of salt (I

think they just discovered that there are other spices about 10 years

ago...lol) This caused my medication to be unstable so my water intake

was anywhere from 3 to 7 liters aday. I laughed at the fact that I had

gout in my kidneys, I mean who ever heard of that!

I laughed until about 8 months ago when i went into renal failure and

the search for a kidney began. The gout is basically causing the

hilus to rot away from the renal cortex

(http://www.innerbody.com/image/urinov.html for reference) on my right

kidney and detoriation had started on my left kidney. Needless to say

I was scared (tearing up here this is hard to talk about.) But I

didn't panic, since my doctor is happy that I am into alternative

medicine and could take care of myself but still he went out and did

some research and found the neera cleanse system asked me to try it I

argued about the pepper and won as i have and herbalism certificate

and he know squat about herbs. As i did futher research on detox diets

I discovered some how along the line the raw food way of eating talked

to him and began. it was harder than I thought as my first thought was

" all the raw friuts and veggies I can eat and nothing else this has

got to be a dream! "

I was doing very well and remained raw for 2 weeks. As i knew very

little about how it worked I mainly ate salads and broccoli. Then we

went for a week in Barcelona (never again) back in November and I

plumeted to my doom and was sick the whole time because I had. I have

been struggling to get back to being 100% raw ever since.

When i joined this group I was looking for recipes not a support group

(I am stubborn and think I can do anything I need to do all by myself

) but somehow I but aside my pride and began talking with Elchanan who

started me back on the road I needed to be on. But I was still

stuggling. Then 2 weeks ago I was told I had 6 months to a year and 1

month for my way to work or the doctor was placing me on drugs, my

right kidney was only working at 20% capacity and my left at 47%.

(thank the Uni that they were both still working or i would have been

placed on dialysis...shiver shiver) I went straight to Elchanan

finally in a panic. he and I came up with a plan and I began it right

away. That was last tuesday and i had already been 100% raw since the

doctor told me the news (the thursday before (scared from eating

cooked food) so that was 5 days then the " El " plan as I call it, that

I am following now.

In the last few days it has been very easy to stay raw as i have kept

it very simple. allowing my selections of food in the house to 2 or 3

friuts and veggies. I whole honeydew melon in the moring, a plain

banana smoothie for lunch and a whole head of romaine with alfalfa

sprouts and water cress sprouts; I did had a small amount of seasame

oil until last night when it made me a bit ill. During the day I munch

on grapes and right before 8 I would eat a banana sometime wraped in a

romaine lettuce leaf like a buritto. When I get tired of this I will

find a new lettuce, sprout mixture, and munching friut. I have the

idea that I have suceeded because I have kept it very very simple.

Please understand that I am not doing this because I don't want to

die, I am doing this because I want to be healthly; in tip top form,

when I die and I DO NOT want a kidney transplant.

Last Friday I went for my weekly blood and urine tests. To both mine

and Tærje's (the doctor) amazement there has been a 25% increase in my

right kidney's function and a 5% in my left. I am going in tomorrow

for an ultrasound to see if anything can be seen.

Okay there it is a sad sucsess story. Let's hope it gets better as

time goes on :)

Love and kisses,

Lu

Hi Lu,

May I support you in your efforts by sharing with you the experience of

one of my patients. He and his wife, a nursing sister lived in Vancouver

BC and he was discharged by the hospital with a kidney condition and

told there was nothing more that could be done for him and to go home

and put his life in order and prepare to die. His wife refused to accept

the prognosis and flew with him to OZ and brought him to the farm. After

three to four months he felt he was well enough to return to society and

normal living relatively free of his former symptoms.

For many years he maintained the simple natural lifestyle including the

eating of raw foods and good health. The sad part of the story is that

he later returned to his job as an oil rigger and his old ways of living

and died soon after.
