Guest guest
My own hair is very thick - and it is also very oily. I have been in the practice of washing it every day for years; otherwise, it looks dirty and oily, and there is no way that I could go to work with my hair looking dirty and oily; I have a very public job! I would love to be able to just " wash " my hair with water only - but I don't see how I could get by with just doing that, and still have clean, shiny hair, because, like i said, I have very oily hair. I have had problems with thinning hair, especially in the crown area, for several years. A few weeks ago I came across some information both here and on some other groups that suggested ingredients common to almost all shampoos, including most 'natural' products, might be a contributing factor to this problem. I stopped using shampoo about four weeks ago, and I don't use anything at all except water. While I can't say I have noticed any regrowth, there is a lot less hair in my sink, and a lot less in my brush than I have seen in a long time. My hair feels different, lays differently, and appears thicker than when using the shampoo. It does not seem as fine and 'fly-away' as it did before. I don't know if this is a result of the natural oils hanging around or what. The other positive thing is I can rinse my hair as needed during the day (after periods of exercise/exertion), and it doesn't appear to dry out my hair at all. So, for now anyway, I am sticking with this practice. Peace, Valerie An e-mail from Joanie May all of your journeys be safe ones.
Guest guest
Joanie, My suggestion would be to try it over a weekend - a long weekend would be better because it would give you that " extra day " to see how things transpired. My hair is baby fine and if I don't wash it every day it looks and feels oily. Having said that, however, I take one day on each weekend that where I do not wash my hair because I know that all those chemicals in the shampoos, hair care products, etc. aren't good for it. I'm working on the water washing this weekend to see what happens. I like the feel of it when I wash it with lemon juice but I also know that the acid in the juice strips the natural oils from my hair if left on too long - and it doesn't take very long for that to happen either. So, try it for a weekend and then let us know what happens! Good luck!! Donna - - - - My own hair is very thick - and it is also very oily. Guest guest
Hi, Joanie, I'm not sure what to recommend. My hair is neither thick nor oily, so the water works fine for me so far. (I should also have mentioned we have soft water, and that might make a difference as well.) Maybe using lemon juice as recommended by others would be helpful to you. Peace, Valerie Joanie <christmasbaby1956 wrote: My own hair is very thick - and it is also very oily.
