It really bothered me, but I still ate them, trying to concentrate on the sweeter parts. Ah well. I still feel good about the fact that I ate strawberries, and not the other things I've been consuming lately. _____ Jeanie, Did you see my post a couple of days a about treating the " cost " of food as an investment in one's self? I recommend doing whatever it takes to get the best raw material you can find to put into yourself. For your body will truly become what you eat! Guest guest
Elchanan, Just found the post, and read it. Thanks - it makes sense. Even without tons of variety, putting quality substance in is just better, all around. I was planning on going to the natural food store tomorrow to pick me up a couple of bunches of organic bananas, anyway! :-) With all the apparent banana support in this group, I guess they'd be good for me to at least try for a while - I'll do my best not to get bored with them! Thank you, thank you! Jeannie Rose

Thank you, thank you! Jeannie Rose _____ when most of us associate any food with primates, the first food that typically comes to mind is the banana. We are primates. The link is actually rather easy, when you look at our species in the context of its larger family of species. Guest guest
I agree with Elchanan. A lot of those food cravings are because of the deleterious effects of cooked and processed food. I find that once 'raw " the body responds very differently. If I had had the money to purchase it, I would definitely have received the diagnosis of eating disorder. I wasn't the problem, it turns out....the poor diet was. It's easy for these people to say the problem is you, you have these issues... blah blah blah. Here's the thing... Everyone has issues, so it always rings true when they say that stuff. It's like the fortune teller who says, " I see a man in your life.. " " and you jump in, " oh that must be Fred! " and think how brilliant that fortune teller must be. After all she's never met Fred. But anyhow, I digress...... Putting a name to my emotional eating, and understanding that I had a problem was extremely upsetting for me, and at the same time a great wake-up call! _____ Hi Jeannie, Now that you have purchased a diagnosis, I suggest that you let it go. You do not " have a disorder, " stamping such a label on your forehead may serve as a wakeup call not, but listen to your own words, wearing a label is upsetting to you. We cannot ever treat disease, we can only create health. Try and shift your focus from all this discussion about binging and so forth. Every time you write such words, every time you speak them, you reinforce THOSE patterns in your being. It is easy to go out into the world, send out your binging message, and receiving back matching messages from others who wear similar labels. But if you really want to live healthfully, rather than bingfully, then start sending out messages that will attract people who are living healthfully NOW, let their energy enter your life, let your energy begin to shift into new patterns using them as role models. If you wish to hear more about these ideas, please let me know. I will say I do somewhat disagree with blaming cooked food for our problems. ALL " illness/dis-order " whatever we label it: BEGINS IN THE MIND then the outer illusion of life as we see it comes about. Then what happens is this outside influence makes us sick and we justify it by putting the blame outside ourselves. Problems of any kind with eating can be " crippling " and disasterous to the individual and their lives. I do think the answer lies within first, then asking for support, whilst learning to think and act in empowering ways through love and the support given.xx
Guest guest
Yes, I was thinking about that evolutionary link all last night. It DOES make sense. I was wondering though, if you know, or if anyone else here knows, of any literature or studies done on main food staples of varying species. It would be interesting to see how main food staples have evolved or changed (or not changed) with each species. Thanks, Elchanan. Nothing at all is to blame, each of us did his/her best at every step along life's journey. Now we are here, with the opportunity not only to improve ourselves, but also to participate in charting a new course for our species. I hold as a great honor that I live in the midst of this opporunity.
