Guest guest
My 2 yo son has recently had a string of illnesses, and we also suspect asthma and allergies (he really has been a generally healthy child up til now....there was a diagnosis of croup, then ear infection, then flu, now another ear infection, all within one or two months.....but he has not been a sick child his whole life by any means) We took him to a homeopathic doctor today, who (in addition to giving us suggestions for his ear infection) said we should take him off dairy AND soy. My son is also a very picky eater. He said we can try goat's milk and goat cheese, but this gets rid of his odwalla bars (whole foods snack), his veggie hot dogs, his soy yogurt, his tofu.....I don't know what to do!!! He will not eat beef, he will not eat any lunch meat except turkey, he is suddenly getting picky about veggies, he will not eat grilled chicken, he will only occasionaly eat beans, he will not eat fish....I am incredibly picky about his food in regards to processing...no sugar, as few preservatives as possible. All I can think of that we have left is pre-packaged chicken nuggets (Yuck!), peanut butter and jelly (organic, all natural), eggs, and turkey. And I have to do this for AT LEAST a month!!! I seriously need some help. Between the doctor's, my son's, and my restrictions, this leaves me with: No Dairy, No Soy, No Beef, No Grilled Chicken, No Fish, No Sugar, Little To No Preservatives. Any ideas???? Mandi

Any ideas???? > Mandi ------------ Hi Mandi --- the list of " No " things is spot on! a Blessing! yes, lots of choices, and you're in the right group! Raw fruits and vegys. (all presumed to be fresh, raw, and organic or better...) Starting off with some bananas, dates, pears, apples, melons, etc..etc..and then some fresh, tender lettuce, some celery, some cucumbers, etc..etc.. Lots of posts here about smoothies, which kids generally love...suggest looking at the messages in summary form, and searching for smoothies..... re: all the items listed now at the top of this post... Dairy - a known toxin/congestant - mucus-forming, as the body attempts to purge itself of this poison. Milk sugar, Lactose, is a disaccharide found only in milk. Human milk contains about 4.8 g/100ml, while cow's milk contains ~6.8g/100ml. When lactose is hydrolyzed it yields one unit of the monosaccharide guloce and one unit of the monosaccharide galactose. The enzyme lactase is needed to digest lactose, and this enzyme is not present in most, if any, people over age three. Humans are the only mammal that continues to feed its yound milk past the age of 3. Hence the body treats milk as a poison/allergen, surrounding it with mucus, and attempting to get rid of it. Cow's milk known to be a major cause of ear problems. Lots of studies comparing breastfed babies, and bottlefed babies in this regard... Soy - recent post by Elchanan about this..it was in the last two days or so... high toxicity Beef/chicken/Fish - all dead, flesh....cause much more problems than any possible good... all toxic to the body...and the contain a host of other things: preservatives, hormones, antibiotics (there are more antibiotics sold to the meat industry than to humans!) There is really no place in optimal human nutrition for dead, rotting animal flesh. The fact that we eat any of it is an aberration, perpetuated by the gazillions of dollars from the meat and dairy industries. USDA = US Department of Agriculture - they promote, and are heavily lobbied to promote, what is good for the agriculture commerce/industries. NOT what is good for us as humans to eat. The basic four, five, or whatever the new one now is as of yesterday, I guess, are ALL ideal balances for the agricultural industry: it keeps them all relatively in balance, consuming gargantuan quantities of plants to produce unusable materials for humans. Quick definition of insanity, that I also remind myself of: Insanity = doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. Sugar - meaning the white, denatured stuff from cane (fabulous thing to eliminate!) .....plenty of natural sugars, frucotse, glucose, etc. in the fruits and vegys... No preservatives - excellent idea: less toxins put into the body! recommend skipping the herbs; they're just another modality of " healing " - there is no such thing. Only the body can heal itself; our job is to give it a chance.....go the fruit and vegy route...Health can only come from Healthy living. recommend letting your son heal: his body sounds like it's begging for rest, and a chance to detox.... sorry so long...and hope some of this helps. good luck... all the best, Bob

There is also another book called Raw Kids about a family's transition into raw. swing
