no, you just use regular Ball/Mason canning jars...

I have Ball jars.

good....good..

I use them for everything but never saw any

don't need a hole in the top...that's part of the magic - the vacuum

seals the lid to the jar without a hole in it...too cool!

here's the process:

1. Put dates in empty canning (BAll/Mason,etc) jar; putting

the " firmer ones " on the bottom, and the softer ones on top keep from

making date balls...lol;

2. Put the lid, no ring...just the lid...set it on top of the filled

jar...no ring.... (didja get the " no ring " part? lol)

3. Take the magic plastic " canning lid " that you bought...that has

the vacuum tube...and push it down over the top of the filled jar

with the lid already on it...this plastic piece has a little knob on

top...

4. attach one end of the vacuum tube to the top of the newly

installed canning lid...

5. attach other end of the vacuum tube to the sealing device knob...

6. start vacuum sealing machine...(the B & D once started, you can let

go of the push button....and it will stop itself..)

7. once the vacuum sealing machine has stopped, remove the vacuum

tube/hose from the top of the jar's temporary canning lid...;

8...remove the jar's temporary canning lid (not the metal one that

you had laid on there in step 2, - it should be firmly affixed)..and

the jar should be seald, vacuum-tight...presto..

9.. place normal canning ring on top for a little extra piece of

mind..

10. (here, I put a label on my jar, saying what's in it, and the

date..)

11. lay vacuum packed jar on its " side " , to keep from having all

the pressure on the bottom dates...

12. put wherever you are going to store them...cool and dark is

grand...like a refigerator...or maybe a cupboard or pantry....

13. repeat steps 1-4, and 6-12.

have fun..enjoy! Hope this helps...

if not, email me privately, and I can send you my phone number, and

we can discuss it further....

all the best,

Bob

Oh, okay. I get it. I don't need special Ball jar lid. The regular

lids work with the sealer. Directions I'm sure come with the sealer.

So Food Saver or Black and Decker could do this most likely. Good, I

was turned off my plastic containers since I have all glass already.

Thanks!
