I hate to be ignorant but why is the eating of animals not normal for

mankind? I believe in the vegan raw food lifestyle for reasons other

than this.

Megan,

I don't know that answer, and don't have the inclination to do any

research to figure it out..I invite/encourage you to do so, if you're

so inclined. If it was a backhand way of opening the " meat-eating "

door/conversation , I'm sure there are boards for that; that's not

the stated mission of this board.

And, frankly, I'm a little surprised at the question, and what I

received as the tone. Since you've been a member of the group since

~12/03, I'd love to hear your supportive thoughts. Maybe you could

help me understand how the question fits in with the description of

the group: " This group is here to support people wanting to learn how

to eat a Healthy Raw Food Diet. "

I continue, and plan to do so, to offer thoughts, ideas, stories,

recent reads, etc...that I find are supporting me as I learn how to

eat a Healthy Raw Food Diet...and I'm hoping that others will also do

the same.

all the best,

Bob

Hi Micki!

Thanks for the question, and I don't find the question ignorant at

all. Shot version: it doesn't fit the definition, and probably a much

better choice of wording on my part would have been to use the

word " Natural " .

My experience with the definition of what Natural Hygiene is, and

what it means, primarily from my readings of T.C. Fry, and H.M.

Shelton, provide plenty of insight concerning the " ..anatomical,

physiological, pathological, and nutritional reasons for eliminating

flesh foods from the human diet, and why optimal health is not

possible on a meat-based diet. " (NS, p.740) TC even says

that " ...Discussion and documentation of the many contraindications

to the use of flesh foods could fill several volumes. The study of

Natural Hygiene is primarily concerned with lifestyle and ating

patterns which will result in optimal health and longevity. "

That'd be outstanding for me!

This perspective, coupled with my very recent

understandings/learnings from " The China Study " (see recent post with

that title), where animal fat/protein

links to, or possibly causes, many chronic diseases are providing

immense support to me on my journey along this path.

My belief is that not only is it not normal/natural, but that it is

an aberration, albeit it one that may have at some time been a

necessity, as man moved away from the equator, and may have been

unable to find anything else to subsist on.

Do I have a bias? yes, sir! (and **** proud of it! lol!)

Living in one of the lowest " health " , or most disease-ridden,

countries in the world, I believe we are raised, and indoctrinated

into, a belief system around nutrition, food, disease, medicine,

etc. that is completely false, and is supported by billions and

billions of dollars from industries, governments and

some scientists. My son recently told me that he thought I was

a " conspiracy " theory person; I'm coming to believe that he is

correct.

From the China Study, T. Colin Campbell, PhD, co-author with his son,

Thomas M. Campbell, II, states that: " ...One of the most fortunate

findings from the mountain of nutritional research I've encountered

is that good food and good health is simple. The biology of the

relationship of food and health is exceptionally complex, but the

message is still simple. The recommendations coming from the

published literature are so simple that I can state them in one

sentence: eat a whold foods, plant-based diet, while minimizing the

consumption of refined foods, added salt and added fats... " p.242

He further adds that " The findings from the China Study indicate that

the lower the percentage of animal-based foods that are consumed, the

greater the health benefits - even when that percentage declines from

10% to 0% of calories. So its not unreasonable to assume that the

optimum percentage of animal-based products is zero... " p. 242.

This was like a 27 year study, and the culmination of like 40 years

of work for Dr.Campbell.

Between TC and T. Colin, I find a ton of useful " road-markers.. " I

don't feel that I have to go cut a new path...just take the ones they

recommend: they both have tons of experience.

Hope some of this helps.

all the best,

Bob
