Guest guest
Hi everyone, For a couple of months, I have shared literally hundreds of positive, constructive, supportive posts and receiving many appreciative responses, both in public and in private, Then, one week ago today, I sent out a post of which I am not proud at all. I am happy with the content of what I wrote, but I see, both on my own and in the angry/hurt replies from a couple of others, that the way I communicated was out of alignment with my own constructive intention and desire to share with, connect with, and support others. So I take this opportunity to apologize to Poppy, Jeannie, and to all in this wonderful group for the language and tone of that message. As many have undoubtedly noticed, I have not posted anything substantive to the group since that time. After I " let loose " that message, I chose to focus internally, to explore what had happened inside me that set off such an uncharacteristic reaction. I discovered some unresolved feelings and unmet needs arising from circumstances that occurred more than 25 years ago, and then I took the time I needed to comprehend those feelings and needs and resolve them to present time. That having been done, I am happy now to reconnect with this group. I wish to express to everyone how much I have gained through my participation here, particularly connection with others where public interactions have led to private, personal friendships. I have decided to modify my posting patterns somewhat. I am beginning to see the " same " (or similar) questions arising as new people enter the group. In addition, as I read some of the conversations, I perceive a real need for some frames of reference, so that terminology begins to make sense and people can achieve increased clarity and self-reliance. For example, there is presently a conversation attempting to distinguish between the terms " raw foodism " and " natural hygiene. " But the question itself must be reframed before an truly excellent, complete, and clarifying answer can emerge, and such a writing would be far longer than many people might wish to receive as an email. Therefore, going forward, I believe my best contribution is to create some more permanent, well-formatted (readable!!!) documents and make these generally available. So I will continue posting here and there, but I will also shift my focus and energy toward creating several longer, more publication-ready materials to share. Guest guest
Hi Elchanan, Nice to have you back! I really like your idea of creating some longer posts that newbies (or anyone!) can refer to as needed. Since joining this list, I have made several changes to my diet which have been a direct result of the information you have provided, including: 1) I'm making sure I eat (and offer my husband!) enough calories each day. 2) I'm eating more fresh fruit, including bananas. 3) I'm seeing dates as more of a quality food choice rather than just a simple sugar. 4) I'm using celery in my smoothies. 5) I'm looking at the medical establishment and nutrition research differently, with a more questioning attitude. I know there is much more than that, but you get the idea. Thank you for your contributions and welcome back! All the best, Jennifer

I find your post very well stated. I'd have a very similar list to yours, and probably even longer. I've experienced Elchanan as very caring, supportive and a " laser-like, guiding light/beacon " for me. I also have found many/most of his suggestions very practical, insightful and implementable. I've also experienced him as very human, and I found his re-entry post refreshing, thoughtful (meaning he'd obviously given his response lots of thought), respectful, honest (brave, thrifty, clean and reverent...lol! parenthetical part left over from Boy Scout days..)....you get my gist, I hope. I also find him well-grounded and versed in the basic sciences, and clearly articulate in his communications. He has, for me, a profound depth and breadth of knowledge. And I, for one, remain very thankful for having someone who's been down some of the paths before, share his/her experiences of what they've found that works/doesn't work, and why. I also enjoy knowing that Elchanan is actively working on making significant positive contibutions to others' lives. Elchanan, my offer to assist in whatever manner possible, remains humbly offered. all the best, Bob I'm also very glad he's reconnecting with the group. all the best, Bob > > > >
Guest guest
Elchanan, Apology accepted. Thank you for this email. I love reading your posts. I don't always agree with everything you say, but that is why I like them even more. Figuring out what one doesn't believe in only helps to shape one's opinion of what one does believe. The " longer more publication-ready materials " will help out a lot of people, I'm sure - including myself. I look forward to them. Thanks Again for all the positive that you do for this group, which, I must add, FAR outweighs the negative. _____ Thanks Joanie. It was really important to me, personally, to step back and take genuinely responsibility for whatever was going on inside me. I realized that whatever feelings I was experiencing were my own, regardless of what anyone else had said or done, and I also realized that I had a wonderful, though not initially pleasant, opportunity to grow and improve myself. Hopefully, I have successfully done so. I held an image in my mind of a tightrope walker. When a tightrope walker begins to lose his/her balance a bit, he/she immediately takes a single step backward, rebalances, and then moves forward again. That image expresses my intention for myself last week.
