It begins to rise as fertility decreases at around age 30 (average), then continues to rise. I remember from my infertility treatment days, that my RE suggested IVF because my numbers, at that time, were 14-18 (from several different months). Average age for menopause is early 50's, I think, but I know plenty of women whose eggs were depleted by their mid-late 40's. Here's a site I found from google from a fertility clinic which has a good explanation of the numbers and their indications: _http://www.rscbayarea.com/articles/fsh_levels.html/#fsh_ (http://www.rscbayarea.com/articles/fsh_levels.html/#fsh) ~denise
Guest guest
I am sorry for this to continue to be so off-topic from the group - but I do have a couple of questions here, if anyone could give me feedback on, I would appreciate it. Okay - first of all - What does FSH stand for? It was indicated here that " 53 " is definatly menopausal - so, this being the case - what would a " definatly NOT menopausal " number be - in other words, do the numbers go up or down? I guess that what I am trying to ask, is what would " normal " FSH numbers be for a say, 25-year old woman VS the FSH numbers be for a say, 70-year old woman? Thanks for any feedback! we3deeves wrote: >>>> I finally convinced him to check my FSH and it was 53!!! WAAAY menopausal!
