I know Elchanan suggested to me that a mango whizzed up is good poured on salad. I love Romaine and won't have a problem with it. Guest guest
Hi, Annette, I will sometimes blend a little banana with berries, mango, pineapple, etc. to use on my greens when I am not using nuts or avocado. Makes it a little creamy and sweet. Peace, Valerie Annette <cloudriver wrote: Hi All ~ I'm embarking on Frederic's clean raw food program today. Guest guest
good luck, Annette.. for oil and fat and nut free dressing, I suggest: ~5 parts tomato ~1 parts lemon/lime - all except the peel and the seeds ~1 part cucumber water to make consistency you like your dressing -- if not " tangy " enough - add more lemon/lime.. all the best...good luck on the week. Also, experiment with adding some tamarind fruit (buy in Chinese grocery, never labeled organic, but no problem). Not trying to make either of us right or wrong, just state that there are some NH principles that have been proven out over hundreds of years, and as part of those, work has been done to show what " foods " support optimal nutrition, and which ones don't. My " acid " test for foods remains - could I enjoy a complete fresh, whole, raw meal of just the one " food " being considered, eating it until satiated. For me, the answers would go like this: tomato: yes; cucumber: yes; bell pepper: maybe; parsley: no; garlic: no; onion: no; oregano: no; rosemary: no; Most of the " nos " I would define as condiments, and I think I've posted on that before: the body treats condiments as poisons/toxins. And toxemia is the 2nd stage of disease. I've got enough challenges without deliberately ingesting toxins. Hope this helps, and I honestly have no intent to offend anyone. And, on a macro continuum, are condiments better than meat? probably, and we've already agreed to that, by joining this group! lol! And see an earlier post by Elchanan: it's not *that* big of a step to eat the salad withoug any dressing. I'm actually experimenting lately with very different types of salads: where the ingredients are washed, and served, mostly whole, with many of them being able to now be " finger salad foods. " I still cut the tomatoes just before I eat them, since I find that just biting into them can create juice in many unexpected places!! even worse than a ripe peach! lol! all the best, Bob
