Hello everyone,

I have been reading material on the Internet about rawfoods and health and

fasting and I have enclosed a link to one article I found very informative -

it explains a lot of my own behaviour regarding cooked foods and I thought I

would pass on the link below if anyone is interested.

Love Lynne

Hi Lynne!

nice article - I think it summarized very well how we become adapted

to the high stimulant foods, and what, in the author's opinion it

takes to break out of the cycle:

1. discipline and motivation, enough to last 30 - 90 days. (which he

points out many people can't do, because they are so " addicted " to

the high stimulant tastes, and raw tastes " bland " by comparison...

or

2. a one week fast on water only, with rest, to re-calibrate our

taste buds..

I liked it!

thanks for sharing.

Thanks Lynne,

This article and others have shown me how addictive artifcial foods are. I've

been 100% raw 4 mos. now Three yrs. ago I stared and would fall off

periodically I believe education, experience, and support has helped me the most

this time. I still get cravings for different foods pizza, pastas, fish, etc.

but I think it through and think about the negative effects it has on my body.

Best Always,

Scott C.

Hello,

I would like to hear from people who understands the effects of raw fruits when

they are juiced. Ive been juicing apples for a month now and I read a post on

another group and they said it was processing the fruit to much. I'd like to

hear about this please.

Thanks,

Scott C.

Hi Scott...

it's called " processing " or " fractionating " the fruits- we're

altering the basic format of the food. we're making it no longer

as " fresh " and " whole " as Nature intended.

hmm...the effects -

1. reduced the biological value of the fruit;

2. decreased the vitamin content - Vit. C is rapidly oxidized by

exposure to air. If the apple juice turns brown/dark, that's the

oxidation bit. It's designed to be " oxidized " inside our bodies,

letting the body gain the benefit; not designed to be oxidized by a

juicer (I've done it: have at least 3 juicers...Champion, some

spinner type, and a wheatgrass juicer.... ---I now use the Champion

almost exclusively for either things like applesauce, with the blank

in, and combine whole apples, seeds removed, with some dates, pits

removed, and let 'er rip - that was dinner last night...wonderful,

and pretty close to as nature intended....yes, some oxidation...., or

use it for banana ice cream " treats "

3. Wasted/Lost any vitamins minerals that are in/near the skin or

pulp - and there are lots there..

4. Made it an incomplete food, vs. a complete food as Nature

intended. we've " meddled " with the food....taking only some of the

water, almost none of the pulp, and concentrated the sugar. Probably

creating the opportunity for sugar overload, with no natually

balancing ingredients.

yes, it is processing the fruit too much; and it's probably better

than eating a steak, on the grand continuum of food.

Hope this helps.

all the best,

Bob (fellow journeyman)

has anyone ever noticed alot of the things that are being craved are things with

tomatoe sauce?? pizza, pastas..maybe like spaghetti?? Was wondering if any of

you have found that eating fresh raw tomatoes has helped with these cravings of

the pizza etc... this is something I have found that has helped my cravings.

Being an Italian and growing up eating this type of food.. a good pizza or dish

of pasta was like a stapel for my family..

Since trying to be 100% raw.. I felt the need to find a replace ment that was

healthy for these things... and so far it has been tomatoes and cucumbers eaten

like a salad.. or even blended in a blender with greens and a fruit.. I was

totally surprised that the cravings are non-existant now.. especially my pizza

craving.. chocolate too. now if I can just find something to kill the soda and

chip craving.... juices, blended drinks, veggies, water.. so far nothing is

doing it.. even making sure I am getting enough for a days time.. could I be

doing more movement these days then others?? and if so the amount of food is not

changed because I am basing on for the more sedentary? I do notice I stay up

later at night.. even tho I get up at 6:30am everyday.

my knowledge of more exotic fruits and veggies is very limited and wonder if

there is something out there that I am missing that has this craving stopper in

it. ?? ok thoughts like this go through my mind often.. don't mind me..lol What

has helped you?? I have never been a fish eater and thank goodness haven't had

this craving..
