Guest guest
Hello all! I'd recently posted a partial post on this, and thought it might be worthwhile to help all of us become more " self-sufficient " / " self- sustaining " . I find that there's a lot of good info on the boards, and it's not always " grouped " just how we'd like it! lol! here's a method I've found to be helpful in searching for info on a topic. (and not " picking " on anyone, and would like to use a couple of " real " examples, rather than making them up.): 1. go to the board that you like, with these being my " base " : (your home boards could obviously be different) http://health.Rawschool/ http://health.Rawfood/ http://health.Rawsjourney I recommend joining, and bookmarking each of the above.. 2. Once on the board, let's take RawFood for example, only because it's been around longer, and has more info on it...I recommend going back quite a ways...like on that board about 1,500 messages back (because it's an active board... ) sooo...go back to post 16000, by entering that message number in the message number " block " and clicking on the " GO " button located just to the right of the message number block...and you'll shortly be at message number 16000. 3. Now, enter the topic term that you're interested in, like " garlic " (quotes not needed), into the " search " box, and then press the " GO " button to the right of the search box...Note that there are two different insertion boxes, one for going to a particular message number, and another for entering search terms. Note that there are *ALSO* two " GO " buttons - one to the right of each insertion box. Now, if and the internet are both having a good day, you'll have a lovely listing of messages containing information about what you've searched on. If either are having a bad day, and like you don't get anything...just do it again... Once you've clicked on a message, at the bottom of *that* message will be a listing showing the replies to that message. Easiest way to navigate from here - just use one of the back buttons, either 's " previous " command, or your browser's " back " command a little more advanced: You can also change your " settings " for how you'd like to read messages -- by using both the view (3 choices - simple, summary, expanded) and the As: (msglist, thread). You'll need to play around with these settings, to actually see what each one, and various combinations does. For example - if you change the " As " to " Thread " , then you'll read all the messages that have the same subject line until that thread is over. I find this very useful after I've done a search - I get to keep reading the " thread " by just clicking on next...(it's not a " perfect " system - sometimes subject lines change, etc..etc.) Hope this helps.. all the best, Bob (fellow journeyman) This is posted as a " file " on Rawschool. Guest guest
I am a prickly person by nature, Bob, and I don't much like the trend I see growing in this forum (towards sycophantism), but I have to say that this is the best post I have seen in a long time. I think that self-sufficiency/self-reliance/self-teaching is the most important purpose of this forum. Thanks for bringing this out from the other group. tev Bob Farrell <rjf2 wrote: Hello all! The experience of dynamic religious living transforms the mediocre individual into a personality of idealistic power. Religion ministers to the progress of all through fostering the progress of each individual, and the progress of each is augmented through the achievement of all.
