Guest guest
OK first off, Elchanon you rock. I love your wholistic approach to health. I enjoy the way you lay out your answers and how thorough they tend to be. I am in the process of converting to as much raw as I can handle!! My approach was to begin with the emotional/energetic healing to be able to listen to what my body and spirit tell me about my own health. Then for a few years I have been slowly weaning outl much of the processed foods. Quite frankly, I just feel kind of sick and sometimes queezy when I used can foods, greesy prepared foods and most packaged 'meals'. In the past year I have been letting go of all sorts of animal proteins, being led to buy only organic, hormone free when I feel I need the stuff. I backslide but I am doing my best. So my question is what is it about cleanses. I have seen some inferences to them not being healthy or not needed on this list. Anyone have any recommendations of where I can go online to read about it? I tried checking the local libraries for all the recommended books on this list and rawjourney and not ONE is in the local library system. I can't afford to buy any at this time. So where can I look online or even within this list to find out more? Guest guest
Hi ... The very short answer is that we don't need them, and that they are toxic to the body, since anything that the living organism cannot make into living tissue or use in any of its metabolic processes is a poison. Said slightly differently, anything that you take into your body, with the exception of water, is either a food or a poison. Either the body can use it as healthy nourishment, or it must try to eliminate it as a toxin. If you're more into longer answers, here's some info on cleanses, from LSHS (Life System Health System),p. 1005, by Dr. Vivian V. Vetrano: " what about the most efficient cleanser to use daily -- intestinal cleanser, east cakes, or granulated yeast, juice, lemon juice with salt water, vinegar and maple syrup and tie and next year? You don't need an intestinal cleanser or otherwise .The lining of the entire gastrointestinal tract is self-cleansing. The mucous membrane, from the mouth to the anus, contains what are known as goblet cells. When filled with mucus the cells look like goblets. Their purpose is to secrete the mucus to keep the lining of our food to moist and claim. Debris does not collect inside the intestinal tract because the mucus keeps the surface the slippery, and peristalsis keeps the food waste moving along toward the anus, where it is voided. Pay no attention to the sales pitch for colonics and intestinal cleanser, for intestines are self – cleaning and crusts can't accumulate in the intestines. All of the substances that are considered cleaners are in reality dirtiers. They are not foods and do not belong in the intestinal tract where they may be absorbed in and dirty the system. Salt is a poison; yeast cakes and granulated yeast are not digestible and are harmful; vinegar has acetic acid and alcohol in it which are poisons; maple syrup is a cooked product and not good for you; and cayenne pepper is a poison the damages the liver and kidneys and irritates all that issues with which it comes in contact. The only substance that is not poisonous is lemon juice, but since foods don't cleanse the living organism, that is, the living organism alone cleanses itself, why fool yourself? Don't eat bulk list substances. Just eat natural fruits, vegetables and nuts and your intestinal tract will always be clean. " I have personal experience with a host of these " things " from Psyllium both husks and seeds, to collodial Bentonite clay, to Dr. Schulze's various cleansers, Intestinal #1, Intestinal #2, etc..etc...Probably aren't many out there that I haven't used! lol! I've recently discarded the remnants of this folly. Hope this helps. all the best, Bob (fellow journeyman)
Guest guest
I have a question about this. My husband has IBS. He tried everything that his doctor prescribed or suggested, but nothing worked. We came across Colonix--an intestinal cleansing kit. We did it for 2 weeks and felt wonderful!! He finished up the kits and then the pain came back, even though he continued taking a fiber mix (not by Colonix). He asked me to order more of the fiber part of the kit and has been taking it ever since and has not had any IBS pain. So, my question is.....if these cleanses/fibers really don't work, then why has his pain been relieved? Also, I know that when I was on the cleanse I eliminated some nasty stuff!! How is it that this can happen if these kits really don't work? Thanks for your help. From my perspective, the answer lies in distinguishing between health vs. palliative relief of symptoms. From your own explanation, it seem clear that the substance heals nothing, for the moment he stops using it, all the symptoms return. I have heard it said that one way to relieve pain in one's finger is to drop a hammer on one's foot. The pain in the foot so eclipses the pain in the finger, that the pain in the finger appears to be " gone. " Such appears to be the case here. His body is so preoccupied with getting rid of this " fiber, " this dense stuff that has the potential to clog his digestive tube and kill him, that whatever the original problem may be, the body has no resources with which to address it, and so it does not. Hence, " the pain is relieved. " But I urge you and he not to mistake this superficial and entirely palliative relief for healing in any manner whatsoever. And if he continues this practice long enough, eventually his body's incapacity to deal with other needs will likely show up as far more severe symptoms of some other sort. I understand that you have tried everything his doctors prescribed. But doctors deal in treating disease, not in creating health. So I invite you to let go of all that and come on board with us! Consider adopting health, not relief, as your goal, then keep asking questions such as you have above. As you learn and implement not only eating habits, but in a larger sense a lifestyle intended to create and sustain health and vitality, the underlying cause will be dealt with -- but only when his body is ready to do so.
