It says on the label " bottled with its own natural carbonation at source Gerolstein " . Do you think it is really a natural carbonation? Is there such a thing? The rest of the label says: " The purity and rich mineral content of this water comes naturally from deep down in Gerolstein's volcanic rock since 1888. In the heart of the Eifel - the wooded highland between Rhine, Moselle and Luxemburg with extinct volcanoes and crater lakes - lies the health resort of Gerolstein; a hamlet known far and wide as a holiday center and 'City of Springs', which owes its prominence to a gift of nature: rich mineral water reservoirs of exceptional quality. Today Gerolstein is one of the leading centers of the world's mineral springs industry. " Thoughts? Comments? Intuitive reactions? I've had a bottle in my refrigerator for quite some time and it is still bubbly when opened. Thank much - Shari _____ Hi Shari, Checked with Dr. Tim Trader on this one and found the following: Yes, there IS natural carbonation, but it is not " good. " The carbonation probably comes from phytic acid, which is a combination of minerals and chemicals. The minerals in mineral water are inorganic and NOT healthy for us to ingest. The water's pH is likely to be about 6 because of the phytic acid, quite low for any normal consumption. Needs more research, imagine you are as capable as we are in that regard, but this may get you started.
