Guest guest
Today I received an email from David Phippen, Chairman of the Board of the California Almond Board, in response to my recent press release. Guest guest
Hey, anybody that thinks he's taking a chance can just buy cooked almonds or pasturize his almonds himself. They can put a warning on raw almonds bin in the store. Aren't we supposed to have a choice in a democratic country? I thought choice was what democracy all about. Are they going to pasturize spinach too because of Ecoli? Oh, no, I'd better not give them the idea! Thanks Judy, I'll pass that along. Here are a couple articles based on Dr Vlassara's study: National Health Information Center U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Food Prep May Be as Important as Ingredients Themselves Frying, grilling can boost hazardous inflammatory toxins, scientists say Grilled, fried or broiled animal products such as meats and cheeses contain a class of toxins called " advanced glycation end products " (AGEs), which have been linked to inflammation, insulin resistance, diabetes, vascular and kidney disease, and Alzheimer's disease, say a team from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. AGEs are also produced when food products are sterilized and pasteurized. http://www.healthfinder.gov/news/newsstory.asp?docID=603960 also How your food is cooked may be as important to your health as the food itself Medical Research News Thursday, 26-Apr-2007 http://www.news-medical.net/?id=24202
Guest guest
jeff, can you give us an email address for David, so we can respond to his response? Guest guest
So much for being a free society when we need everyone and everything else to make the decisions for us. Why bother being conscious consumers making our own informed decisions when government can obviously do it all for us at our expense. Eat as much processed food as you like, but we're trying to protect your health by pasturizing almonds? So now they say that cancer patients can't make informed conscious decisions about what they eat? It seems rather obvious that the people involved must be making a huge profit - why else spend all the time and energy and money if it is isn't a marketing plan, you're right! Well now we all have automatic holiday gifts for our raw foodist friends when we travel ;/ On 8/8/07, Jeff Rogers <jeff wrote: > > Today I received an email from David Phippen, Chairman of the Board > of the California Almond Board, in response to my recent press > release. Guest guest
Just FYI, it's MUCH easier at times to find articles by the first author listed. In this case, Helen Vlassaca is the last. Here is the full list of authors: Jaime Uribarri, Weijing Cai, Melpomeni Peppa, Susan Goodman, Luigi Ferrucci, Gary Striker, and Helen Vlassara And here is a link to the abstract: http://biomed.gerontologyjournals.org/cgi/gca?gca=62%2F4%2F427 & sendit=Get+Al l+Checked+Abstract%28s%29 Best, Elchanan On Behalf Of vegwriter Wednesday, August 08, 2007 8:33 PM Re: Reply from Chairman of Almond Board Twll David Phippen to check out the April 2007 issue of The Journal of Gerontology and see what Dr. Helen Vlassara's study says about pasteurized foods causing chronic diseases and aging. > Today I received an email from David Phippen, Chairman of the Board of > the California Almond Board, in response to my recent press release. > It doesn't sound like he has any sympathy for raw fooders. > > > You are right!
