Guest guest
Friends, This is a first draft of an idea I'm working on, with the attention of getting the whole world to begin to realize the benefits of raw food, local organic farming and gardening in most every backyard and public space, etc, etc. I'm open to constructive feedback, discussion on or offline, collaboration and manifestation on this topic, if it feels right. ******** A RAW DEAL, by Stephen'Star' Hollingsworth Have you ever found yourself eating some yummy raw food, whether the perfect fruit, or some spontaneously fashioned wrap, in which the goodness of the earth carries you into a mild state of ecstasy, and think, " Wow, if only everyone could have this experience, it would change the entire culture's eating habits... " and then our relationship to the earth, and a whole lot more would come from that. I have an idea for transmitting this message to the masses as quickly as possible. The " RAW DEAL " would be a base recipe designed to be delicious to the largest number of people, from SAD to raw vegan, just heavy and substantial enough to satisfy the common need to be eating " real food " , and with just enough delicious vegetables, as locally grown and in season as possible, so that upon taking that first bite they receive the information of love and abundance from the earth through their tastebuds, and to leave them wanting more. This recipe would be publicly available, on a website, probably a wiki, and could be tweaked and modified as time goes on, and also include additions, variations, and discussion. The hope would be that _every_ raw vegan restaurant on the planet would carry this item, and if some non-vegan enterprise (like, say, McDonald's, Wendy's, PizzaHut) wanted to " steal " the idea, they would be welcome to it. This would not be a patent, but a gift to the world, with minimal expense (just hosting and running the website, maybe some outreach to raw restaurants) that would come easily from love and the desire to service. If the organization were to grow, it could always take voluntary donations from the participating restaurants...and, once the goal or worldwide dietary consciousness has been achieved...well, it would no longer need to exist. Here's my idea for what it could be. First, whatever it is, I feel that it must have a raw " bread " in it, bread being so central to the dietary and spiritual consciousness of almost all western peoples. I am thinking of a chewy, satisfying bread, such as the kind the RawMakery makes. On top of the bread would be some kind of fatty paste, which might be an olive based taupenade, possibly using black sesame seed butter, maybe hempseed butter. The next layer might be thin slices of locally grown organic root vegetables in the wintertime (radish, sweet onions, beet) or non-sweet vegetables in summer (tomato, pepper, cucumber, squash), then perhaps some type of marinara or other sauce, and then topped with a thin layer of salad greens, and finally, the top of this half sandwhich/pizza- like thing, which might be a single leaf or two of spinach or collard, or romain, so that it can be held like a sandwhich but not be as messy as with a slice of bread on top (which in my view would also " depress " the aesthetics and make the meal too heavy). That's just one idea, but I think it should be limited to one, so that we can get a global " buzz " going around the " Raw Deal " . It might be nice to get media coverage, which would happen, but it would be more exciting to so it growing organically, by word of mouth and of course the internet. The idea being that this one item, would be delicious and appealing enough that whomever ate it...would want to eat another one, if not the next day, maybe later in the week. I see it as an ideal lunch item, for the working person, because it gives them energy and doesn't put them to sleep (as almost any SAD meal does). Also, they don't need to _know_ anything, or _learn_ anything about the raw food diet, they could JUST EAT IT, and hence " get it " ....the information pull would come from the consumer, so that, if they get curious and start to look up the website, they'll start hooking into a variety of layers of information, depending on their interest. For example, the website would contain not just the recipe, but guidelines and suggestions regarding the support of local organic farms, as well as storage suggestions (for example, to go orders can be made viable for the next day by putting the greens on the bread first, so it doesn't get soggy), and every aspect of producing this on a fairly large scale (and other suggestions for low volume enterprises). Also, suggestions on perhaps a small side to go with it, to open customers' eyes to locally growing delicacies in season, a slice of peach perhaps, or a small handful of blueberries. I like the idea of using hempseed (and possibly spirulina) in either the bread or the topping, because people are obsessed with protein, and of course the average dietary information would be available both on the website and at the restaurant, as that would definitely become a topic of conversation, as in " How much protein is in it? " " In each RawDeal, there are approximately 10 grams of protein, containing all 8 essential amino acids, and easy for the body to assimilate " . Among other ideas I've had, it would be fun to play with the fascination many in this culture have with spicy food. There could be a hotness scale, and a garlic scale, at which upper end would be raw slices of garlic covering the bread, along with raw slices of habanero pepper. That would generate interest and more " buzz " with certain crowds. In addition to the " Raw Deal " (or whatever name that has a buzzy, quick sound-bite mass commercial catchiness), I think there of course also needs to be a universally available Cacao Shake, with enough ingredients to make it a meal replacement and superfood. I don't know what to call it, maybe something as simple as " Raw Chocolate Shake " . The impact of this would of course be enormous, as the cacao consciousness continues to rise, with what we hope to see as better usage of tropical lands (ie, more cacao, less cattle raising is better for the rainforest and us). Not only that, imagine how good everyone would be feeling. If you like this idea....please make use of it!
Guest guest
Hi Star, Sounds like a cool idea. Feel free to use this wiki space until you find something more appropriate: http://raw.wikia.com I'm just starting to set this up now and would love contributions from people who don't mind presenting ideas and discussions in a collaborative atmosphere.
