Guest guest
I talked to a person over the weekend who is supposedly knowledgeable about nutrition, who told me the following: Using a metal spoon or metal blades in a blender when mixing your green smoothie (or other living concoction) will destroy its energy and will cause your body to not get the intended benefits (such as an energy boost). Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? Josh
Guest guest
Josh - was the man representing a product called " Uri " ? I've heard the same thing from a man by the name of Gaius. Shari
Guest guest
Shari, That's funny, the man was representing " URI " . I don't know his name but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same guy. Josh > Josh - was the man representing a product called " Uri " ? Guest guest
Yeah, Uri is the guy who came up with the formula. This particular man was telling me how my green smoothie, made fresh, was inferior to his processed, dried powder in a plastic jar and it was all because I had used a blender. I wish I would have asked him how it became powder. Seems to me most knives and cutting devices are metal. Hmm................. Guest guest
That's the product. So tell me what makes it live? It sure doesn't look like what it did when it came out of the ground. How can you call it live when it's a powder? I'm not buying their hype. Shari
Guest guest
Shari, If you this link you can view a presentation explaining how they prepare The Feast so that it is still considered live. I take this product, even though I am a raw foodist because of the combination of ingredients, that I would normally find hard to find in my grocery store consistently. Of course, I still think buying and eating raw is better for you. I take this product as " insurance/suppliment " to what I already do. I also buy it for my grandchildren who don't like to eat fruits and veggies for that very same reason. Helen http://www.uriinternational.com/template1.asp?DistID=23999 ---- That's the product. Guest guest
I watched the video. The narrator says their drying process is proprietary. No details are given, other than telling us that it is low temperature and takes only 30 seconds. I guess we are supposed to take his word for it that it is “live.” But I think it is obvious that any drying process, even if it is done at low temperatures, damages nutritional quality. He also says on the video that less than 15% of the population has the time to prepare fruits and vegetables. I disagree. How long does it take to peel a banana? To make a salad? How long does it take to prepare a grape before you put it in your mouth? Less time than it takes to open a jar of powder and stir it into a glass of water. Considering that most of the population watches several hours of TV every day, I think they have the time to prepare fruits and veggies. I used to buy green powders, but eventually I came to feel that I was deceiving myself. Instead of eating tablespoons of powder, why not just eat a piece of fruit? You can actually live off of fruit. You can’t live off of powders. Guest guest
I'm just staring to make and drink green smoothies every day and they are so delicious. A great way to get your greens. Everyone I've given a sample to in my extended family (all SAD eaters) like it a lot. Great drink for kids so they get their greens. I've been reading Doug Graham's book, The 10-10-80 Diet, and finding that besides being fascinating, it's a super quick and easy way to eat. I agree with you, Mark. Guest guest
Oh I know this product and I took it for a few years. I got tired of wasting my money. I'm sticking to ingredients I can see, feel, and taste. Shari
Guest guest
Thank you Mark. I agree with everything you say. The other problem I have with Uri, is the mentality of the people selling the stuff. They meet at Izzy's Pizza House and eat all the crap in the restaurant and then tell me my green smoothie is inferior. Shari - who I guess isn't done talking
Guest guest
I totally agree with you, it is not that difficult to peel a banana, pop a grape into your mouth, etc.....Also in order to eat right, it does take a bit of thought and planning to be prepared, to take the time, get your food ready for the day. Many of us know what we should be eating, but in reality how many of us ( not talking about raw foodists) on a consistent basis, eat what we really should be eating, more fruits and veggies???? Sadly the majority of the folks out there are conditioned to pop a pill anyway so they do that. They want to do better for themselves, but not really put themselves out or deprive themselves. So for that reason, I recommend The Feast. I tell my customers, fresh is always better, but for those times when fresh is not an option for them, taking this supplement is better then nothing. I was taking care of my granddaughters for 11 days while the parents went on a trip. These girls are very picky eaters. No where in even one week of eating, do they eat the required amount of veggies, that even the SAD recommends on a daily basis. At my home, they were having fruit smoothies daily, fresh juices. They liked those, but when it came to eating other veggies, it was very hard. One of them did not even want to try anything new. So I bought The Feast for them, and hope they take it on a daily basis. I worry about these girls and also about my son and DIL and how they eat. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. Most people know what they must do, but in reality, how many of them, have the self-discipline to pass up the SAD foods they come across on a daily basis???? I have been raw since January of this year. Amazing things have happened to my body as a result. I will never go back to eating the SAD. I do take The Feast, I add it to my smoothies. I also juice, take the time to prepare my foods, etc.... We always carry a cooler with us, and make sure that we are out and about running errands, etc, that we have food with us, we don't have to or want to go to restaurants any longer. My body is so satisfied with how I am eating now, I no longer have cravings for foods, that I know are not good for me. I feel like I am in control and what an feeling that is!!!
