LOL, big smile. It can take a bit of time to get used to Ray's style :)

Albert Einstein taught that a problem we create on a given level of thinking

cannot be solved on that level of thinking. We must expand our awareness,

our perceptual framework, our paradigms, if we are to look down upon a

problem from outside it, see it's fullness, and solve it completely,

permanently, elegantly ... without creating new problems for ourselves in

the process. (The latter is what typically DOES happen, because we don't

follow Einstein's advice.)

In much of what share here, I am influenced by Einstein's teaching in this

regard. I am seeking to share not only information, which is available

everywhere these days, but rather ways of thinking and perceiving ... a bit

less available nowadays.

When Ray shares in this way, he intends, I believe, much the same. For

example:

- It is indeed best to fast until one is finished, not based upon any

schedule. In fact, one of the biggest changes in fasting over the past few

decades has been the increasing number of people who fast on a schedule and

the decreasing number who fast until complete. One AWFUL outcome: Many

people crave like crazy after they break their fast. Why? Because they

signaled their system one way, then broke their commitment (from the

system's perspective) and forced the system into another direction before it

was truly ready to go.

So when Ray says, " Go beyond yourself to find your true self, " he is

suggesting that we choose to remain in this place of deep rest and

reflection until every part of our being feels complete. Honestly, I know of

no other fasting teacher alive today who possesses this level of insight

about fasting. I feel grateful to have learned this from him.

In the past, I have agreed to work with people who wish to fast on a

schedule. Now, I almost always decline. I do not wish to lead people into

false hopes and disappointment. It is my hope that, by next year or the year

following, I will have something substantive to offer in this regard.

- When Ray offers, " The temptation is to fix things by still going outside

of ourselves for help and direction. The direction is inward and the place

is us, " he is suggesting that we search within for our answers in life,

rather than looking outside for help and direction. This is why I write so

frequently of paradigms, beliefs, and such. When we choose a life-affirming

set of beliefs, then our choice-making becomes inherently life-affirming,

and with ease and grace. Life becomes peaceful and enjoyable as never

before.

Hope this helps a bit! And thanks for following the links!

Foreign Matter; Relative Rest, Fasting; Thought Forms [supplements, Herbs;

Nature's Design] (Josh's inquiry) (New subject line)

I have been reading through the website mentioned in Elchanan's post (

www.OurPlaceInternational.com ) and found something interesting:

In the FAQ, someone asks " Q. How long must we fast? " And the answer on the

page is: " A. We must go beyond ourselves to find our true selves. "

I don't know how that would enable one to calculate the appropriate length

of a fast, but " beyond " means (from my dictionary): " outside the physical

limits or range of; apart from; except " .

In another section of the site, titled " THE FORMULA FOR ALL LIFE " , Ray Kent

states: " The temptation is to fix things by still going outside of ourselves

for help and direction. The direction is inward and the place is us. "

Except when fasting, I guess.
