Great idea Jeff. I hadn't heard before of doing that with almonds. (There

are many fermented things of which I have not heard, since I don't seek them

out.)

And, as I wrote before, it's all unnecessary. When we create healthful

conditions in the gut, the flora will return, unless there is a huge worm or

something like that inside. And that is quite uncommon ... and all the

fermented stuff in the world won't solve that problem.

Elchanan

Ron,

For balancing the intestinal flora, I would focus on eating simply, only

eating when hungry, eating mono (all raw) organic produce, especially

greens. Too many nuts and seeds can be a problem, as well as overeating in

general. As Elchanan mentioned, avoiding salts and spices should help,

especially garlic and onions. For improving the flora, I would want the

flora, but not the dairy, so I would eat some cultured almonds. I soak

almonds over night in purified water, then rinse and drain them a couple

times, then blend them with sufficient purified water to keep the mix

blending, yet avoiding having a mix too thin (though that shouldn't be a

problem.) Once smooth, I pour this into an open mouth jar and put cheese

cloth (or a nut milk bag) over the top secured with a rubber band. In about

1 1/2 days there is a noticeable rise in the volume of the mix, with lots of

tiny bubbles. I sometimes eat it by itself and sometimes add it to salads.

That may not be the ideal, but I enjoy it. The best is likely to eat it by

itself, separate from other foods.

A friend of mine was bipolar and on meds, etc. She is an actress/

dancer/athlete, and has gotten off her meds and has been doing great! Here

she mentions bipolar briefly:

her bipolar past:
