Hey Nick.

Garlic is always a good try but some say it does not work, I think more it is

the dose, timing and form. Might distance people too :)

I read just recently (because I have been going on hikes) that hot peppers

work. I was thinking of the homeopathic creams with capsasin (cayenne) in them

might be worth a try. I used jojoba oil with eucalyptus and pepermint oil and

while others were being malled I did rather well, I am going to add cayenne to

that mix and let sit, Im thinking this will work good.

Good evening,

Has anyone found a raw food that will repel mosquitos?

I don't think this is 'raw', but it is natural as far as I have read:  Bug

Barrier and Bug Block from Dr. Schultze (www.herbdoc.com) You can find it under

the " External " link on the left hand navigation.

He mentioned he developed these when he was down in Florida for a period of time

..... similar bugs to where you're at.  If you call them to find out more about

the product ... or if you try it ... perhaps you could report back to the list.

Bug Barrier Botanical Ingredients: Eucalyptus Leaf oil, Cedarwood oil, Rosemary

Leaf oil, Citronella oil, Lemon Grass oil, Lemon oil, Tea Tree oil, Peppermint

Leaf oil, Catnip Leaf oil, Cinnamon Bark oil, Garlic Bulb oil, Plantain Leaf

oil, Echinacea Root and Seed oil, Botanical Menthol, Neem Tree oil and

unbleached Beeswax.

Bug Block Botanical Ingredients: Eucalyptus leaf oil, Cedar Wood oil, Rosemary

Leaf oil, Citronella oil, Lemon Grass oil, Lemon oil, Tea Tree oil, Peppermint

Leaf oil, Catnip Leaf oil, Cinnamon Bark oil, Garlic Bulb oil and Neem Tree oil.

Best,

Hi Nick,

My family use just plain citronella oil here in

Mozzie Land (Australia)

You certainly wouldn't EAT it though so it's not a raw food.

Wonderful raw shea butter is good for everything under the sun.

" Shea Butter is actually an effective insect repellant.

A study published in a French Medical Journal titled Bulletin de la Societe de

Pathologie Exotique, Shea Butter was found to be an effective, affordable, and

practical means to prevent insect bites.

And if you happen to get an insect bite because you forgot to put on your Shea

Butter before going out, remember that Shea Butter has powerful ant-inflammatory

properties to stop itching and to reduce redness & swelling. "

Being from an island where mosquitos come up from africa carrying

Dengue fever, we are extrememly vigilant and hyperaware of various

methods of mosquito blocking. From taking regular doses of Vita B, to

wearing a bug-emulating-dragonfly-machine, we've done it all. I've

heard many things, but in truth the only thing that we've had reliably

work to keep mosquitos off of us is Neem. It works for a short time.

Citronella hasn't been effective in keeping it off of us, but burning

it in a candle form does!

We've also burned cinnamon stick incense around us and that helps as

well.

I hope that helps someone out there.

I came to understand over many years, that the presence of mosquitoes can be

perceived as an excellent warning sign of " something " (or several things

combined)

not being right in the environment we are experiencing those bites in ...

(stale water - a very important condition for their reproduction - ,

alkaline - acidic balance in the body ,  etc )

Raw food diet is essential for a healthy, clean, balanced alkaline body,

that the mosquitoes would not bother, but never underestimate the

importance of your stress level, of your spiritual vibration, that might keep

you on the acid - side , attracting those acidic-blood-suckers ...

Here is a list of a few very popular plants, that have been observed as

mosquito-repellent, and are good to be surrounded with ,

and as you all well know, are advised to be included in every

raw-head diet:

bay, lavender, mint, garlic, basil, oregano, lemon grass.

There are also great garden plants-bushes-trees to have nearby

(whose english names i do not know, but based on their latin

names, one can easily identify):

Vitex agnus-cactus, Ginkgo biloba, Catalpa bignonioides,

Pelargonium odoratissimum, Plectranthus, Eucalyptus sp.

Good luck, greetings from Budapest,

Hey Attila,

Good to hear from you!

Regarding mosquito repellent, if I remember correctly, one type of

Sassafras tree on a property repels mosquitos (unless it was a

different type of tree).
