Guest guest
There has been a spike in raw articles the last couple days. Here's a short one from India: good health: The raw truth Dr Supratim Akaash Paul August 22, 2008 http://www.thestatesman.net/page.news.php?clid=19 & theme= & usrsess=1 & id=219414 We learnt long ago to cook meat and since then cooking has became an art. Except for leafy green salad, few things are eaten raw. But a diet of raw food is becoming popular as this helps to lose weight and detoxify. Raw food includes fruits, nuts and vegetables. Guest guest
This reminds me of a quite interesting story I discovered just by chance on a blog while surfing around. This person, a copywriter living in India at the time, wanted to have lunch delivered the same as many do in Mumbai, in a Tiffin box. She also had IBS. Long story short, she found herself led to a place which prescribed - and prepared/delivered to her in Tiffany boxes - raw lunches. She overcame the IBS. Her story: http://absoluteleela.blogspot.com/2004/09/amazing-tiffin-box-complete-series.htm\ l The " Health Awareness Center " which helped her: http://www.internetindia.com/health/thac/ From their website: " . . .the Centre was started to educate, provide, rehabilitate and help people to look after their own health. This ideally being done, without the dependence on doctors, medicines, hospitals, and other 'health curing' systems. . . . " " As one of the first activities, the Centre started a Lunch service of living foods. This was to provide economical, nutritious and sustainable meals to sick people, working people, those who are old and disabled or those who are simply health-conscious. There are around 150 people in Mumbai city, who every month, avail of this service, which is now 5 years old and thriving well. The Vegetarian Food Plan is designed to supply the ideal balance, according to the needs of the body. The Centre's kitchen does not use: - Any oil - Milk and Milk Products. - Refined Products, like Maida, Breads, White Rice, etc. - Processed or packaged products. - Refined salt or sugar. Only wholesome, natural, fresh, unaduleterated ingredients are used, which includes organically grown grains, cereals, sprouts, and vegetables (whenever available). Special care is taken to 'Make' the food and not 'cook' in the conventional ways, which destroy all the live enzymes and most of the nutrients.
