So did anyone catch 20/20 last night? Didn't think so as I hadn't seen anything

posted here. While I did not watch it, someone did send me the link. (There

are two parts about 6 minutes each.)

John Stossel was quite rude to Viktoras Kulvinskas, in my opinion.

I have found John Stossel to be very biased in his reporting and

stopped watching 20/20 many years ago, except for specific " reports "

of interest. If you remember, John Stossel did a horrible report on

organics many years ago. He got in trouble for it and had to give an

on-air apology.

While " Orthorexia Nervosa " is actually about obsession, some may

actually judge raw foodists as having the disorder simply because we

choose healthful raw foods. Making such choices certainly doesn't

require obsession, just choices! I spend less time thinking about food

(one of the " symptoms " ) now, than before I was raw and before I was

vegan. Some articles in the media seem to intimate that raw foodists

suffer from O.N. or that raw foodism may lead to it, etc. They may not

state that outright, but I've read many articles that seem to want to

lump raw foodists with the O.N. disorder.

Dr. Steve Bratman had actually decided that he, himself, was obsessing

over the purity of his food and created the term and diagnosed himself

with it. One article or web site I had read several years ago

mentioned that Dr. Bratman had gotten to the point where he would only

eat food picked within 15 minutes.

One problem with articles making raw foods look dangerous or that it

may lead to a dangerous condition or nutrient deficiency, etc., is

that it may scare away a lot of people that may, otherwise, find and

reap benefits from increasing their raw food intake.

I agree about John Stossel being biased. We got rid of TV and only watch the

news once a week online. We keep up to date without stressing over every little

negative report. I watched these clips and although we are new to Raw I felt it

did not resemble any of the raw foodies we have met. Anything can become bad

when done obsessively, health and exercise included. One thing I did think about

it though is it is hard enough raising high raw vegan kids without negative

publicity that will give realtives ammo as to why we need to force them to eat

meat. Also it is a little discouraging that in between 20/20 episodes I am sure

there are plenty of fast food and drug ads. They should have shown some healthy

raw fooders as well that would have been balanced and shown that there are ways

of doing it 'right'.

Peace and thanks for always spreading the latest info.

Here's a link to an article about the show they did bashing organic

foods years ago. I wonder if they or their predessors were part of the

group promoting formula as better than breast milk not so long ago?

What's next? fresh air poisons your system with too much oxygen or

clean water flushes out too many nutrients? happiness makes you weak?

Hey the online magazine the " Onion " could have fun with this one. Or

maybe I'll send a quick note off to the " Daily Show with Jon Stewart. "

John Stossel is a right wing asshole. He's totally biased against us.
