Guest guest
Do any of you feel the need for warm/hot food when the weather turns cold?
Guest guest
Thanks for asking the question, Sharon. I'm new to raw (started early Aug) and yesterday was by far my most challenging day yet. I'd love to hear if anyone has any coping strategies or suggestions. Thanks, --Tea Do any of you feel the need for warm/hot food when the weather turns cold?
Guest guest
About the cold weather. Yes I am sure most feel cold to some degree, I think it is natural. Some people make soups and let the blender run a little while , heats it up. I like mine thick and hearty sometimes. You can use the Excalibur Dehydrator as an oven set at 109* just take out a couple trays and put your bowl cup or plate in it. Foods high in Iodine might help the thyroid heat the body, (sea veggies). Herbal teas and warm water (just before the boiling point) with lemon are good. Hot shower or bath help...and more clothing. I think I remember the sage tea heats the body up (be careful with herbal teas, make sure you read up on them). Guest guest
I also heard recently that you can use a slow cooker on low. Anyone tried that? When I first went raw, I missed the warm/hot foods but I'm used to it now. But when I need something warm, I drink hot tea occassionally. Guest guest
Use hot spices like cayenne and jalapeno in blended soups. Tomatoes and cayenne go well together. Juliano's recipe book has some good ones - one of them uses squash, bananas, and jalapeno. Sounds strange, but it's tasty. Blanc
Guest guest
Not particularly. I just dress warm. I've never felt any warmer from eating warm or hot food.
