Knee Injury - Want a good sports doctor.

Hi all,

My name is Alice MacKenzie and I just joined this this

morning. I am very interested in raw foods and the vegan lifestyle

and have attended a few of the Raw Washington events.

Over the weekend I injured my left knee and now I am in need of a good

sports doctor. I am seeking to heal my knee with as little invasive

surgery, drugs and other allopathic medicines as possible.

Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!

Alice

PS. I live in Edmonds.

Alice,

I don't know a holistic medicine-friendly sports Dr. for you, but

suggest you start with a naturopathic or other holistic physician. As

specialists usually need to be referred to, starting with a holistic

approach may be the way to go. Do you already have a holistic primary

care physician? You could also check with some naturopathic offices to

see if they know of a good holistic sports physician. Even if you have

to see a traditional physician first, perhaps he/she would then refer

you. If there are none in your area, you could try contacting Seattle

Healing Arts. They may know of a sports specialist in the Seattle area

or your area. As a holistic sports allopath would be rather

specialized, it may be worth the trip.

I would recommend Dr. Garett Tomsin, DC, he is excellent

with sports as well as many other injuries, and is totally holistic

in his approach.

He is located in Everett, WA. at Mind Body Healing Center.

Hope this helps!

I see Dr. Annie Armstrong, DC and Active Relief Therapist (ART). She's the

BEST and she helps all kinds of athletes get through injuries. Her website

is

www.head2toeclinic.com You should definitely investigate ART. I've limped

in to see her and left to run 5 miles. It's great!

BTW, she's in Edmonds...

Finding raw food-friendly and/or vegan-friendly physicians and other

forms of health practitioners is a serious concern for many in the raw

food community and is deserving of support on this list. Some

physicians may actually suggest to patients that such a diet is

dangerous, etc. It is important, IMO, for physicians to be

understanding and open minded to diets which may be more healthful and

more beneficial to healing. So, while this list is about supporting

raw food discussions and supporting the raw food lifestyle, it is also

important to help our members find practitioners in the community who

will also be supportive, even if they are not living the lifestyle.

If you choose to stay on this list, consider being patient with the

group. There are a lot of different personalities with different

opinions. While I try to keep discussions on topic (and some off-topic

ones do get on the list), some like this are certainly acceptable.

Jeff

PS: Members of this list are also supposed to trim their posts, but

that doesn't always happen!
