Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am brand new here and very excited about it. I have been (80-90%) raw for only 2 and a half weeks. I keep hearing these stories of people being full of energy when they've gone raw and to tell the truth I'm a bit perplexed. The most profound change that I have noticed in these past few weeks is that I am dead-tired! I can barely stay awake at work and I keep looking forward to this boost of energy I'm supposed to be getting, but alas, none has come. I need some advice! I'm afraid I'm going to have to give the whole thing up if I don't figure out the secret to energizing myself. I've been taking vegetarian multi-vitamins and today I drank juice with green powder, but it's not making a difference. I worked at Starbucks for a little over a year and developed an addiction to caffeine, but when I went raw I dropped it altogether and I wonder if that has something to do with it? My headaches went away within a few days, but again I'm so tired. I don't mean just a little sleepy, either, I mean I've never felt this way in my life--I am SO fatigued. Does anyone have some advice for me?
Guest guest
Yes, get some more sleep and rest. Your body is trying to tell you something. Among other things, your adrenals are trying to recover from the caffeine poisoning. You gotta give it some time, a LOT more than 2 ½ weeks of not even being all raw. It could take quite a while before you notice your energy start to come back. Hang in there. Guest guest
Hi Cherie, Mark is right. I had the same experience when I went raw. I needed naps at weird times, like in the evening. It wasn't till I'd been raw 4-5 months before I noticed increased energy, and I was 100% right from the start. Caffeine masks the body's need for rest. The need has been there all along, but on caffeine your body was like a horse getting whipped to run faster. So that you don't misinterpret other symptoms and feelings that may come as a result of your dietary changes, it would be helpful for you to educate yourself about what to expect. To that end, I highly recommend reading at least the first 6 lessons of the Life Science Course at www.RawFoodExplained.com. Happy cleansing, Nora www.RawSchool.com Yes, get some more sleep and rest. Guest guest
Cherie, I agree with the advice that's been given so far. I'll also try to qualify your expectations, and explain why your experience is probably different. When I went raw (August 2001) I had been vegetarian for a few years, had never gotten into caffeine and was fairly active physically compared to others my age (40 at that time). In spite of all that I was starting to feel prematurely old so I started getting chiropractic adjustments on the advice and experience of a friend. It turned out that I had severe posture problems. After 6mos I got the spring back in my step - I no longer felt like a ton of bricks when running and jumping, but my energy wasn't where I knew it could be. During the first week raw, which I went 100% right away, my energy level skyrocketed and my body started clearing out all the cooked food residue immediately. Looking back now I'd say I went through several lesser cleansings before becoming raw - excercise, chiropractic, vegetarian - that you may now be encountering all at once. The fatigue is your body's reaction to this overwhelming opportunity to heal all at once and it's telling you to lay down and rest so it can do its healing work. I agree that the ideal situation is to take some days off to let the healing take its course. I hope this is a practical possibility for you, because you deserve it and shouldn't settle for anything less. If you have to settle for less get good competent local advice on where you can take shortcuts without shortchanging your long-term health. Guest guest
Hi Sleepy.... When I went raw I slept for most of the first two weeks while my body did a lot of detoxing. Then I slept what was normal for me (10-14 hours). I was looking for that reduced sleep/ increased energy. I did get increased energy but my body was healing (from Traumatic Brain Injury- TBI) and needed lots of sleep. At about the 1.5 year mark I started to experience an occasional 5 hours of sleep as sufficient. I was ecstatic! My normal now is 5-7 hours of sleep per night with about one night a month when my body might want to sleep just three hours during the night and a cat nap during the day. And my daily naps (due to TBI) reduced to occasional (but still persistent). Enjoy YOUR journey, Mia , " Cherie " <cheriemigas wrote: > > Hi everyone, > I am brand new here and very excited about it.
