Actually, if you would not be otherwise voting for a candidate from

one of the two major parties, then your vote for a third party does

not take a vote away from one of those candidates. It, as far as I

understand, would have no effect. At the same time, if you have a

passion for a third party candidate and wish not to support the two

party system, consider honoring yourself. If you would be voting for

one of the two party's candidates, then you would be taking a vote

away from that candidate.

It is similar to our governor's race. Supposedly, the remaining

candidates are neck and neck and every vote counts. I have no interest

in supporting either candidate and don't wish to give either a vote.

However, I AM passionate about Christian Pierre Joubert, a raw foodist

and Naturopath, who was a gubernatorial candidate, but did not make it

past the primary. While a write-in vote for him will likely not have

any effect on the outcome of the race, I can feel good about putting

his name on the ballot and my vote may help raise awareness of

nutrition and holistic health care. Someone gave me a hard time about

it, basically saying it will take a vote away from one of the other

two. NO, it will not. My other choice would have been to not vote for

governor.

Yes your question was not about raw, but see how I was able to relate

it to raw food? This is a raw vegan list. Oh yeah... and I understand

Nader is vegan! :)

What I meant was that if I were to write in Dennis Kucinich (who I love)

rather than vote for Obama, then I would in effect be helping McCain/Palin

get elected, which I sure as hell don't want to do.

Wow thanks for the quick responses. I will not feel like I am dishonoring myself

by voting for Obama but I dream of someone getting this job who actually votes

the way they say they believe instead of just saying what they know we want to

hear and then getting in there and doing just the opposite. I also watched a vid

on youtube of Nader trying to get into the debates and being told he and other

out of the box candidates were on a list and would be arrested if they tried to

get in (our debates are now owned by corporate lobbyists yuck) and he even had a

press pass invitation from fox news (another yuck in my book). I must say

another reason I love being raw is when I was just vegan I was still supporting

a lot of corporations that are in the coop under other labels but still owned by

kraft, general mills etc there is a chart you can find online that breaks it all

down. Is it just my age or is this race more heated than ones past? My

republican

relatives ( I grew up in Texas) all think Obama is a terrorist and it feels

like you cannot even have a discussion on basic issues without people getting

totally erratic and angry. Has anyone heard of Codex Alimentarius and if so

which candidate does not support that I have yet to hear it mentioned in the

mainstream media but it seems to me it would really affect everyone especially

the raw community.

I will also write in Christian Joubert for Governor after looking him up he

sounds great and frankly I dont care if that vote seems wasted but I do care

that Mcain does not get my vote growing up in the evangelical christian world

that kind of government seems scary and frankly we have had enough of it with

Bush in my opinion. I do not object to faith just when it combines with gov't

and foreign policy.

I used to like Nader, many many years ago when he was a consumer advocate,

but I stopped liking him after he spoiled the presidential election by

siphoning off votes that would have elected a Democrat. Nader's ego got in

the way of our having a better world.
