I think, if you want to juice wheatgrass, you have to bite the bullet and get a wheatgrass juicer. > What if you vita-mix wheatgrass with other greens??? > Does that turn out? that is a different issue. Then you are just " blending " the wheatgrass. Juicing the wheatgrass, you are just getting the pure juice, none of the fiber, so you get more. I,myself, do not grow wheatgrass, although I grow wheat sprouts for 2-3 days. they get sweet. I throw them into the Vitamix with whatever I am blending in there, or sometimes all by themselves with some kind of sweetener (fruit, stevia, honey, agave).... you can make milk from wheat sprouts, too... just Vitamix them to death and then strain and add anything else you intend to add I hope this helps. Guest guest
If you are asking whether a juicer that won't juice wheatgrass all by itself WILL juice wheatgrass if the wheatgrass is put through w/another veggie, then the answer is " probably not " . From my limited experience, if the juice won't handle it alone, it probably won't handle it w/something else. With the juicer I had (brand escaping me at the moment), the addition of the wheatgrass just gummed up the unit and I ended up with juice leaking out all over and I had to scrape the grass off of every component. It reminded me of my garlic press: presses all but the " skin " through the little holes and it doesn't matter if I add a piece of apple, the garlic " skin " still remains and I have to dig it out. Just my experience. I'd chime w/the rest: buy one that says it can handle kale, cruciferous veggies and wheatgrass if you intend to juice those items. It's made from heavy duty plastic and in one case I shoved too many frozen bananas and frozen berries into in and forgot I had a " juicer " end on it. The end cap " popped " off from the pressure and I replaced it in two days, the vendor is the BEST I've ever dealt with, (Fern's Nutrition) and service was immediate and nice. http://www.fernsnutrition.com/samson_juicer.html -- genius to understand the simplicity. Guest guest
Hi, does anyone have a wheatgrass juicer laying around that they're not using any more? I had a reading done and was told that I should be drinking wheatgrass juice every day since it's so alkalizing. And I'm sure we all know that an alkalized body is usually a cancer free body - which is where I am on my way to. I am hoping that perhaps someone in the community doesn't use their's anymore, or has an extra one laying around. Perhaps it could be a gift, or a very reduced price. Manual or electric, doesn't matter. Best, Paula
Guest guest
Did you find a wheat grass juicer yet? I checked with a friend who used to have one, still waiting for the reply. Guest guest
Speaking wheat grass, does anyone know if wheat grass has gluten in it? I'm allergic to wheat gluten, but not sure if wheat grass would be okay. Cheers! Kelle
Guest guest
does anyone know if wheat grass has gluten in it? I'm allergic to wheat gluten + + Wheatgrass contains no gluten. Gluten is found in the whole wheat head (seed) – grass is what sprouts from that seed. So, when you are allergic to wheat, you are allergic to gluten, not the properties of the wheatgrass in its vegetable form. In fact, wheatgrass juice can help build up your immunity toward glutinous foods. Guest guest
Awww, thanks so much. I had one member contact me offline to say that she had a hand crank one, which should work beautifully. We haven't cemented plans yet for me to pick it up, but it sounds really hopeful that I will have one by Thanksgiving.
