Hi Lorri,

There is no " correct " answer to your question, it simply depends on the

result you wish to create/achieve. If you wish to create a nice, thick paste

or spread, then don't soak the seeds. If you prefer to create something

wetter, then soak them ... but realize that some separation may occur during

storage. This is not a " bad " thing, just something to be aware of.

And, given my own background, I would be remiss if I did not point out that

anything made of seeds of very high in both fats and indigestible fiber.

Eating such a food slows down your entire digestive process and increases

the amount of energy and other resources required to complete that process

(through to elimination). In this sense, I do not consider such a food

" ideal " or " optimal " or the like. (And I tend to eschew the use of such

terminology, but perhaps that can be the topic of another, future post.)

Best regards,

Elchanan

Tahini

Hi everybody,

I finally got around to getting the sesame seeds to try my own tahini.

Here's my stupid question for the week: Do I want to soak them first? Or is

there some reason why you wouldn't want to soak them?

Thanks,

Lorri

Isn't fiber in fruit also indigestible? We don't avoid ingesting fruit

for that reason. I suppose you mean the problem with sesame seeds is the

fat.

No, just a miscommunication in mid-thread. I responded to Helen's question,

please see post #13733.
