We are super excited we ordered our vitamix we opted not to get the dry

container we figured we would not use it but I thought I would ask all of you

whether or not you think its necessary?

We have had a kitchen aid blender using it for green smoothies and such for

about a year and cant wait to have the capabilities of the vitamix.

Thanks for your opinions you beautiful raw foodies!

Have a great day and enjoy the sun!

Had a dry canister and never used it, so we sold it. If you need to grind up

flax or sunflower seeds just use the regular container.

Having said that, I do use the smaller canister much more than the large one,

but I am usually only making something for one.

I have ground flax seed in both my wet blade container and my dry blade

container.  I actually prefer the wet blade for that.  The dry blade container

kind of pushed the seed down and compacted it in the bottom.  If I had it to do

again, I wouldn't purchase the dry blade.  My smaller 32oz wet blade container

gets used sometimes for quick one-person smoothies, but I wouldn't miss it if I

didn't have it.  In my opinion, my VitaMix is complete and perfect with it's one

original wet blade container.

Congratulations on getting a VitaMix.  It's worth every penney, and I use mine

every day.

I only have the large container but it's perfect for my smoothies. I need it

when stuffing several bananas, and lettuce/celery in. I end up with about a 32

oz. smoothie. If I make enough for hubby & me, I have to make 2 batches, even

with the large container.

I have the dry container and use it all the time to grind flax and nuts for

various recipes. I love it! In fact, right now I just sent my Vitamix back

and they're sending me a new one - and I had to grind flax and nuts in a

coffee grinder over the weekend and boy was that a pain. I can't wait to

get my Vitamix back. It really all depends on what kinds of recipes you

want to make. I didn't use the dry container until I got a good dehydrator

though.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Sounds like the dry one does not get used

much if at all. Well its on the way and will be here friday! yay! I do want to

make tahini I am hoping to save some money by making those things myself.

Hopefully the one big container will work. We decided to do a 100 percent raw

challenge for 30 days. Were gonna make some uncooking vids with our kids and put

them on you tube I will post when we do. I hope those of you who went enjoyed

greenfest.

Enjoy the sun everyone
