Guest guest
Hello all, I second Jeff's comments. We have some decisions to make as a community at this point about the entity called Raw Network of Washington. What do you need or want from this energy? How will it sustain us as people who know the benefits of this lifestyle? How will it help others to embrace the gifts of raw nutrition? How can we continue to build our community? It requires your energy and input for sustenance. We look forward to seeing you on Friday. I encourage members to consider joining the board or at least attend the meeting if at all interested or curious. It's a good experience and you can play a roll in helping people take control of their diets and health! If you decide to not be on the board of directors, you can always be a volunteer. Participating in the meeting will give you insights into the organization and you may have some valuable insights for the board and other attendees! Thanks, Jeff
Guest guest
Hi Dorothy, I'm curious as to how you see this organization benefiting people. For people who haven't had contact with it yet, why would they be interested in volunteering to support it? What can this organization do that can't be done in other ways? For people actively involved with it, this might be obvious. However likely there are many people like myself, who haven't had any contact with it, and so the possible benefits of this organization aren't obvious. May your day be filled with clarity, grace, strength, progress, and warm laughter, Roger - <beanaturalwoman Sunday, April 26, 2009 10:00 PM Call to Action - keeping Raw Network of WA sustainable Hello all, I second Jeff's comments. Guest guest
Hello Roger, This would be a good question for Monika Kinsman who conceived and founded the group. I have been involved on the periphery and on the auction committee. You can reach Monika at monika. I do think your question would be the pivotal one to discuss at the meeting. thank you for responding. Guest guest
The current mission and vision of the raw network of WA is on the website. rawWashington.org The raw network helped me connect with like minded people in my early days of raw, and because of that, I was able to learn how delicious raw food can be! This allowed me to stay raw, learn how to make this incredible food and eventually start dalene's raw vegan cafe (now closed). Through this experience I was able to share delicious raw food with a curious non raw community. Many surprised that raw food could taste so good. One woman shared that she depended upon my restaurant to stay raw after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. - now in remission. Another women, her families finances depleated,(her husband in the later stages of cancer)- hearing about raw food and trying to prepare it for her husband was able to learn how to prepare the food - which he loved. He stated that this food had flavor when everything else tasted like cardboard. He was going through chemotherapy. He did pass away and she has some comfort in knowing that she provided her best in his last months. My personal bias that the raw network continues, has to do with having a defined community- online community presence is fine for now- that people can go to get connected.- to learn this lifestyle is possible + there is info on the website about that. Also, what I expecially like is the calendar so I can find out where all the raw related things are happening. I have met some incredable people this way! - would not have been possible through 'meet up' groups. **I met " The Juice Lady " Cherie Calbom, author of several books and now I get to work with her. Would not have been possible without the network's structure. The other thing I love about the Raw network -is bringing speakers to town that are leaders in the raw community. LOVE LOVE LOVE this! David Wolfe and his crew (I lovingly call 'the wolfe pack') stayed at my house, David played the drums while my eldest son played his guitar. Priceless! And we made connection with these people that continues today. And finally, this network gives us all a chance to learn and grow. So, were else could I find information about raw happenings, meet leaders of the raw community and enjoy the presence of so many lovely and talented people, many who live in our own area with talents and stories of healing that are so incredible- let me know because I the Raw Network of WA is the only place I personally know of.
