Avocado's, Olive's, & Coconut's don't have Omega 3 & 6 in them. They are the

two essential fatty acids that we must consume.

According to Udo Erasmus one must consume 1 tablespoon of Omega 3 & 6 oil per

50lbs. of bodyweight. What makes hemp unique among those types of oils is

that it has Gamma Linolenic Acid.

Thank you! I'll check out the website. In think I'm getting enough oil in

the flax seeds, nut butters, avocados and recipes with olive oil in them.

Maybe a tbsp of flax oil would help too.

Cheers!

Udo Erasmus is in the business of selling fat (oil), though, so one should

bear that in mind. Even so, I understand that he recommends that no more

than 15-20% of our calories should be from fat. I suspect that most of his

customers just add his fat to their already fatty diets.

I think that all of our nutritional needs can be met without consuming oils.

Oils are not a whole food, but a fractionated food, stripped of fiber,

protein and carbs, which is where most of the nutrients are. They are an

empty calorie food, just like white sugar. And without fiber, the oil goes

rancid very quickly, making it potentially carcinogenic.

Ah, so then consuming from sources like hemp or flax is better than taking a

spoonful or capsule of the oil. Guess it's time for me to do some more

research to see what all my options are for the Omega 3s and 6s. I know

fish is a good source, but I'm staying away from that too.

Thank you for all the info!

Wow, I just found a really good list of Omega 3 and 6 sources. Check out

http://www.pponline.co.uk/encyc/omega-3-omega-6.html

This chart only works if you've got html on and not plain text, so for those

of you who do:

Dietary sources of EFAs Food Omega-3 (grams per100g) Omega-6 (grams per

100g) Flax 20.3 4.9 Hemp seeds 7.0 21.0 Pumpkin seeds 3.2 23.4 Salmon 3.2

0.7 Walnuts 3.0 30.6 Rape seed 2.1 9.0 Herring 2.0 0.4 Soybeans

1.2 8.6 Butter

1.2 1.8 Olive oil 0.6 7.9 Wheat germ 0.5 5.5 Sunflower seeds 0 30.7 Almond

0 9.2 Olives 0 1.6

Kelle,

Yes, when I was eating flax I would grind two or three tablespoons of flax

seeds in a coffee grinder and add it to my other food.
