I look forward to meeting you in person someday as I have yet to see a really healthy looking person on the Doug Graham diet. I think you can tell a lot about a person's health by their appearance! Guest guest
Thanks, I'm going to try both increasing my whole flax and sprouted sunflower seeds, and adding the Cinnamon, Chromium and Vanadium. I'll let you know if that get's rid of the shakes Thank you so much for all the help! I was falling down (metaphorically). Guest guest
Jim, Proven by who? I have seen lots of healthy looking people on the 80/10/10 diet. But many people try it for a while, then give up. Old habits die hard. So you may have seen people who tried it for six months and then quit. I felt a lot better when I made the switch from a high fat raw diet. And my athletic performance, at age 57, is better than it has ever been. There was a study done a few years ago of a supposedly " low fat " diet in which fat calories were limited to 30% maximum. They found little or no improvement in the health conditions they were studying (can't remember if it was heart disease or cancer or both) and the results have been cited as " proof " that a low fat diet does not work. The USDA recommends that 20 to 35% of our calories come from fat, but I believe their recommendations are higher than they should be due to pressure from the meat and dairy industries. The World Health Organization recommends 15 to 30%. Physicians and PhDs cited in Doug Graham's book as advocating no more than 10% calories from fat include T. Colin Campbell (author of The China Study), Dean Ornish, John McDougall, Michael Klaper, William Harris, Ruth Heidrich, Michael Greger, Nathan Pritikin and Neal Barnard. But if somebody is afraid of not getting enough fat for some reason, or they don't want to make a sudden transition, certainly 15% to 20% is a lot better than the 60% that most raw fooders get, or the 40% that SAD eaters get. You can track your numbers by logging your food intake on sites like www.fitday.com <http://www.fitday.com/> or www.nutridiary.com <http://www.nutridiary.com/> .
