Legal News Flash:

The New Face of Colon Hydrotherapy

Tummy Temple Times Special Report

The winds of change are upon us. The face of Colon

Hydrotherapy at the Tummy Temple and in the health industry are about to change.

As many of our informed clients may know, there was a recent

court case (WA State DOH vs. Dirk Yow, 12/08) and a DOH panel review that

resulted in their determination that Colon Hydrotherapy is the “practice of

medicine.” They feel that only licensed physicians (or nurses directly

supervised by them) should provide colon hydrotherapy and that it is a medical

procedure.

The Tummy Temple, State Rep. Tami Green and leading members of

the DOH have been leading the effort to pass a law to trump the original finding

that Colon Hydrotherapy is the “Practice of medicine” and return it to

independent, wellness therapy status. Although we have done a great job

developing relationships within the DOH, educating the legislators, and avoiding

an industry shut down, we are still vulnerable to malicious attacks with no

legal protection. Someone filed complaints to the DOH that 6 members of the

Tummy Temple staff are “Practicing Medicine without a License” by doing Colon

Hydrotherapy. The DOH has expressed their regret but is obligated to prohibit us

from doing Colon Hydrotherapy.

Of course, this is devastating to this group of practitioners

that have invested so heavily in their craft. However, the healing never ends.

Healing is not limited to a modality. Healers will naturally provide healing in

everything they do.

So we ask you to support us during this time of transition.

Support the new Naturopathic Physician staff that is about to flood the Tummy

Temple with their expertise and eagerness to serve the public with natural

medicine. They will be the ones providing Colon Hydrotherapy at the Tummy

Temple. Support the therapists who carried the torch for Colon Hydrotherapy.

These practitioners practice other healing modalities that will blossom as a

result of this shift. Experience the transformation of their work. (NDs click

here for job applicant information.)

Do not fall prey to anger over this transition. Channel your

feelings into action and find yourself renewed in political participation. Talk

to your legislators about what wellness therapies are, which ones you want to

see in your neighborhood and who you want to provide them. Don’t let this

situation fool you into thinking that we don’t have that much power. We just

need to use it!

And, thank you, thank you, thank you for your heartfelt

support and belief in natural wellness therapies! We will continue to bring you

the best value in natural health care for detoxification, digestive and

reproductive wellness.

Many Blessings,

Kristi Zimmer

Co-Owner of Tummy Temple

Proud Colon Hydrotherapy expert

With great honor and gratitude we reflect upon the Colon

Hydrotherapy work of the following practitioners…

Kristi McKinney Zimmer, LMP

Kristi is the founder of the Tummy Temple, Tummy

Technical Institute (IACT certified school for Colon Hydrotherapy), and WAACH

(Washington Association for Colon Hydrotherapy). She has been instrumental in

establishing a positive, professional reputation for Colon Hydrotherapy in WA

State and nationally. She has committed the last 12+ years of her life to

establishing standards of excellence in the industry.

Kristi is committed to the continued access of Colon

Hydrotherapy to the public and preserving the healing art form of Colon

Hydrotherapy as we now know it. Kristi will continue to manage and operate the

Tummy Temple, provide guidance to the new Naturopathic team, be available for

wellness consultations and provide healing massage.

Jojie Natividad, LMP

Jojie is an elder at the Tummy Temple and had been

practicing Colon Hydrotherapy for over 10 years in many natural health clinics

throughout the Seattle area. She is known for her calming sense of humor, deep

commitment to clients (showing up at 5am to provide sessions), and releasing

emotional turmoil that causes digestive issues. She is a foundational member of

the Tummy Temple and has been very active politically in protecting our right to

practice.

Jojie will continue at the Tummy Temple providing

management support, advanced massage and spiritual healing, and mentoring the

new Naturopathic Physicians providing Colon Hydrotherapy.

Heidi Nebel, MS CN

Heidi worked her way through years of nutrition school

at the prestigious Bastyr University by providing Colon Hydrotherapy. She is our

resident “encyclopedia brain” on all things related to wellness. She loves to

research health and nutrition issues and educate clients on food choices. Heidi

is known for her energetic, “can do” attitude, intelligence, honesty, and ever

exciting, eco-vintage style.

Heidi will continue to provide her nutrition

consultation services at the Tummy Temple specializing in detoxification, IBS,

food allergies and fertility optimization.

Michelle Wallar Martin, LMP

Michelle is our resident sweetheart. Her gentle soul has

touched many lives at the Tummy Temple and provided a safe place to receive

healing. Michelle is guided by her awareness of social and environmental issues

and a deep belief in working towards a healthier planet for all. She has been

active in the political effort to legalize Colon Hydrotherapy for unlicensed

practitioners and a dependable member of the Tummy Temple staff.

Michelle will continue to provide massage at her private

practice in Wallingford. She specializes in massage cupping which greatly

enhances detoxification and reducing scar tissue. She also provides shiatsu,

belly massage and Swedish massage. Contact her at SABA at (206)-816-5897.

Logan Che, LMP

Logan is known for putting his clients at ease. Someone

once described his sessions as like, “having a latte at a Paris café.” We’re not

sure exactly what that means, but we do know that Logan uses humor as a healing

tool and relaxation as his religion; all with incredible style. Many female and

male clients healed “male issues” with Logan, and he welcomed the challenge of

extreme health conditions.

Logan is an accomplished martial artist and brings the

skill of focus to the table with each session. He creates deep levels of

relaxation that renew the body and spirit.

Danielle Biechner, LMP

Danielle is a talented healing artist that provided much

inspiration for expanding the healing boundaries of Colon Hydrotherapy. Her

sessions are magically intuitive and encompass release of the entire body.

Danielle’s personal experience with intense detoxification gave her deep insight

into the sensitivity of the body during healing crises.

Danielle is continuing her healing arts studies; this

time in . She hopes to start Acupuncture school later this year

and add needling to her repertoire.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Please support these therapists in their various healing

art forms.

Thank you!

Amber Warren

(AKA Sydni Deveraux)

As well, we would like to thank our administrative manager and

client liaison, Amber Warren, for taking care of the Tummy Temple with

efficiency and flare. Her position is another casualty of this event. Amber’s

organizational skills kept us all on track and her reliability made it easier

for the boss to sleep at night.

In her life outside the Tummy Temple, Amber will continue to

dazzle the public with her world class burlesque talent. You will find her

performing in Seattle and abroad amongst famous international Burlesque stars.

She will be deeply missed at the Tummy Temple.

Catherine,

Thanks for sharing this. I haven't been to the

temple but know of it. I'm a trained

Hydrotherapist and the gal that trained me was

working on these issues before she took her

practice out of state.
