You can sometimes find them fresh in the shell at Mediterranean markets (like the one here in Morgantown, WV) - in this state I assume they are also unpasteurized. I know that they taste amazing - sweet, juicy and nutritious. The amount of work it takes to shell them keeps compulsive people (like myself) from overdoing it. Wishing you peace and cool weather.
