Guest guest
Hello again, I will have figs again this Saturday ($4/lb). I'm planning to arrange a central pick up at 5-6pm (location to be determined). I'm thinking of Chinatown but am willing to travel farther north depending on where most of the buyers are coming from. Since the quantity I'm able to get is limited and I want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy this fabulous fruit, I will be dropping the minimum order to 5 lbs, as long as you can meet me at the central pick up location. These figs are of the Adriatic variety with a green skin and dark pink pulp. They are super sweet and get softer and sweeter if left at room temperature for a day or two. The ones that are ripe and ready to eat when picked must be refrigerated or they will ferment slightly even if left out overnight. Since figs are so perishable, I must pick some that aren't ready to eat right off the tree. However these figs stay on the tree much longer than figs that are sold commercially, so they ripen nicely off the tree. They are organically grown with no human meddling, other than watering. Please email me privately with questions or your order. I will post details about the pick up time and location as Saturday approaches. Thank you! Guest guest
FYI - I got some of these figs last week and they are already gone! I think 2# were eaten between Central Market and Everett!!! They are very good and worth every cent and the trip to meet Nora for pickup. Shari
Guest guest
Yes, Shari, they are good. Though a little pricey they are a real treat, especially those that are so ripe that the top has turned pinkish brown. Just take one bite I'm in heaven. If you like sweet fruit you'll love them. You cannot get these kinds of fruit in any supermarket because they are so delicate and will not survive packaging and transporting. They have to be picked one by one carefully by hand. If you drop they'll break. We are lucky to have Nora bringing them directly from the tree to our hands. They are truly local, tree ripen and fresh. Thanks, Nora. Guest guest
Helen - did you brix any of the figs? Shari
Guest guest
Shari, I was just enjoying the figs and totally forgot about measuring brix until you mentioned. Today I did some. They were 16-20 but I have eaten all the better ones which I imagine would be over 20. I don't have a reference for figs.
