Guest guest
i confess i have never had a persimmon and i really didn't know much about what they were. Your post made me do a google search for more info on this fruit [?] and now i am even more confused! *lol* Seems there are many different varieties of persimmons and they are vastly different in flavor. i still think it is funny and cute that your flirtation with the handsome farmer's market guy landed you with a whole bunch. You go girl! So what kind of persimmon did you buy? My quest for knowledge lead me to one recipe on FoodTV's site for a poached persimmon...that sounded pretty easy and delicious. ~ pt ~ The only way to escape the personal corruption of praise is to go on working.Ê One is tempted to stop and listen to it. Guest guest
I love this fruit. I ones we are used to are the oval shaped but now they have the Asian persimmons and those are more flat and you can eat them hard and they won't pucker your mouth. They really are a delicious fruit and always in season at Thanksgiving time. I had one for lunch today. For some reason most people haven't tried them or don't care for the flavor. Guest guest
i'd say from my limitied research that persimmons come in several flavors so if a person has tried them and didn't like the taste they should probably try some other variety. Seems some are acidic and sour while others are grown to be sweeter. i will have to keep my eyes open for this fruit and give it a try. i like this time of year because pommegranites [sp] are in the produce isle, and they are fun to eat. They look very festive piled in a fruit bowl with apples and oranges, too. ~ pt ~ The purpose of culture is to enhance and intensify one's vision of that synthesis of truth and beauty which is the highest and deepest reality. ~ John Cowper Powys, 'The Meaning of Culture' ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , GeminiDragon < thelilacflower> wrote: > I love this fruit. Guest guest
I'm sorry to burden the list with this but would everyone who ordered persimmons please contact me? I wrote out a list then proceeded to lose it somewhere in California. I've heard from Janaki, Jonathan and Monica but everyone else who wanted persimmons needs to let me know what quantity they ordered and when they'd like to come pick up. Thanks very much!
