Guest guest
(Bali, Indonesia) Ani's Raw Food Essentials: Durian Ani Phyo, Raw Food Author February 21, 2010 My love for this strange, spiked, aromatic fruit took me on a journey across the globe to Bali, Indonesia, where durian season is only during the months of January and February, and sometimes early March. This fruit is a fatty fruit, like avocado, is rich and smooth in texture, similar to a custard, and is rich in sulfur, which gives it a scent some people find offensive. I think it smells sweet and delicious. But, don't even think about bringing it on a subway in Singapore, or you'll be fined. Guest guest
This reminds of a wonderful durian smoothie I had few weeks ago at the farmers market in San Francisco. Does anyone know any durian sources in Seattle area? Thanks! Maija
Guest guest
I prefer: Lam's Seafood Market (Near 12th and Jackson - 1 block south, then east) 1221 S King St Seattle 98144 (206) 720-0969 They generally have whole frozen durian, as well as frozen 1 pound shrink-wrapped fruit (no seeds or skin). When in season, they also have fresh durian (much more expensive). Jeff On Feb 22, 2010, at 11:07 AM, maija.gu wrote: > Does anyone know any durian sources in Seattle area? Guest guest
Unfortunately we are in the midst of the longest durian drought in memory. I keep asking and the store (Lam's) doesn't know why or when it'll be available again. They just keep trying to sell me on the frozen packaged durian, which is not very good, imo. Viet Wah has freeze dried, which is very good but also extremely habit forming. If anyone finds whole frozen durian anywhere (except Uwajimaya, I won't pay their high prices and they thaw & re-freeze), please post here. Thank you!
